A Love Song for Liars by Piper Lawson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars.
I fell for Tyler Adams when he had nothing but a guitar.
He was my rebel prince, my handsome muse, my twisted friend.
We were worlds apart in every way that mattered:He was poor, I was rich.
He was beautiful, I was plain.
He honed his talent in private, while I ached for the spotlight.
When Tyler moved in with us, Oakwood Prep fell on its knees to worship at his altar.
He traded my friendship for their crown.
I will never forgive his betrayal.
But some nights…He makes me want to.
A Love Song For Liars
Amazing!

I was three quarters of the way through the book before realizing there was a prequel so I will have to go back and read that as soon as I finish up this review. I really liked this angsty teenage love story between two former best friends who have grown apart even though they are now basically living together. Annie is the Daughter of Rock legend Jax Jamieson and she lives in the house while Tyler Adams lives in the Pool house.
Annie grew up with her Aunt and Uncle in Philadelphia and didn’t know Jax was her Dad until a few years ago. After he met his wife Haley and decided to semi-retire, he did a final album an tour and then moved them to Dallas but Annie and Tyler remained friends. Until four months ago when Jax brought Tyler to stay in the pool house to work with him in his home studio and attend Oakwood Prep for his senior year of high school. Annie is a junior at Oakwood as well.
Tyler immediately became one of the most popular students in school and Annie overhead him telling one of his conquests who asked about Annie that she was nobody special. Annie has several issues with Tyler, she misses him as a friend, she wants to be more than friends, she is jealous of him because her father works with him as a musician and she wants her father to see her as a singer but he absolutely refuses to consider it.
Tyler has problems because his abusive father keeps calling him, he misses Annie as his best friend, he thinks he isn’t good enough for her, he knows that Jax doesn’t want him making any moves on his daughter, but he is so attracted to Annie that he can’t stop thinking about her. And he feels he has to protect her from the kids that bully her in school.
There is a lot of drama in the book and and the romance is sweet but not too steamy in this first book. Though that didn’t deter from my enjoyment for once. There are some very hot kisses and dirty talk and a ton of chemistry between Tyler and Annie. I really liked the ending and can’t wait for the next book.

I haven’t yet read the story of Jax and Haley and I bought those books a while back so I hope to read those soon before this next in this series comes out. I’ve had those on my TBR for quite a while. That would be the Wicked Series (Good Girl, Bad Girl, Wicked Girl).
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
