ARC Review: Antichrist by Amo Jones. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Antichrist by Amo Jones

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Meraki Mallory lived two lives. The one that everyone thought she did, and the one she worked hard to hide. She burned with her demons instead of running from them, but when Niko Davis rode back into town with a bag full of secrets, she knew she would need to start hiding them instead. Niko knew her inside and out, and if he saw even a smidge of her soul, he would see that she was no longer the girl he left behind…

When the president of the New York chapter of the Seven Knights MC dies, he passes the gavel down to Niko… but unknown to anyone else, that’s not the only thing he left him.

Niko fights for what’s his, and he’s only ever claimed one person in his life—Meraki. So when he rips away the walls she built around herself with his bare teeth, the secrets that she has so fiercely hidden away all of these years suddenly bleed onto the four unmarked graves laid out in front of his steel-cap boots…

It started with a bond that destroyed everyone around them…

…it ends with blood.

*this is a DARK ROMANCE. Please check triggers if think you may need to.

**Antichrist is not a retelling of Hunchback of Notre Dame, there are slight nods here and there toward the original tale.

Antichrist

“He reminded me of death and pain.”

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💛🖤💜💚❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎
Character development: 😳☺️🤫😍

The heroine: Meraki Mallory (a.k.a. Ruckus) – growing up her best fried was Niko Davis. They gave each other their virginity and promised never to speak of it again. Niko dated Meraki’s best friend Cece on and off after that, but they always had eyes for each other. Until he ghosted her and all her friends 10 years earlier. She now is the owner of a dance studio and dates and lives with Luka, a former friend of Niko’s.

The Hero: Niko Davis (a.k.a. Antichrist) – Despite dating Cece, he only ever had eyes for Meraki. He grew up as a child of the Seven Knights MC which runs their small town of Halsin. After leaving for ten years to the San Diego chapter of the Seven Nights, he returns home after the president of the Halsin chapter dies and passes the gavel on to Niko.

The Story: Niko is now home and he and Meraki still have a connection between them, but she has a fiancé and he has a girlfriend. Both of them have deep dark secrets they are keeping and once they start coming out in to the open things start to get good.

It is said in the blurb that this isn’t a retelling of the Hunchback of Notre Dame, but there are nods to it. I must say that though I know of Hunchback of Notre Dame, I never had any interest in reading it or watching the movie and didn’t even know the story, but when I Googled it and looked at the plot in Wikipedia, It sounded way more complex than I wanted to think about. This has all that and a bag of chips.

Though there were things I didn’t like about the book. Some things just were not explained to my satisfaction to the reader or to the characters. I also thought there could be more detail about what was going on at times. But overall this was a good dark romance and the end was crazy.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
