Audiobook Review: Origin (Lux, #4) by Jennifer L. Armentrout. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Origin by Jennifer L. Armentrout

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Daemon will do anything to get Katy back.

After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure.

* * * *

All Katy can do is survive.

Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💙💚🖤💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎🌍
Character development: 😳🤬😏🤓

The heroine: Katy – She was a normal teenager when she met Daemon, but now she is one of the Hybrids and she has been taken captive by the shadow group Daedalus. She knows that they are evil and that they take and keep hybrids. They had tortured Daemon’s brother Dawson and his girlfriend Beth and now they are holding Katy.

The Hero(s): Daemon – He had no choice but to leave Katy at Mount Weather but he can’t live without her and is more than determined to free her. He is willing to do anything for her even if it means getting captured himself. He feels at least that way she won’t be alone.

The Story: Daemon and Katy learn a lot of terrible things while captives of project Daedalus. Not only are they trying to force the Luxen to heal humans with the goal of creating an army of Hybrids, but they are also keeping Origins (children of Luxen and Hybrids) who are smarter and stronger than both.

The narration was dual narration and dual POV, though mostly told from Katy’s POV. by Justine Eyre and Rob Shapiro. I liked the narration and the story was very good. This is my first time reading this entire series but I have read the Origin trilogy (The Darkest Star, The Burning Shadow, The Brightest Night) and loved that series which takes place after this one.

The Origin trilogy is Luc’s story and we met Luc first in this series when he was young (a very smart boy and club owner). We find out in this book that Luc is an Origin and is the strongest of all Origin’s. There was a lot of crossover between these series. We see Luc asking for a serum in this book and I know right from the start why he wants it because I have read the other series. It makes me want to read or listen to that series again.
