The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: ❤️💙💜💛💚
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📙📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌎🌏🌍🌎🌏

The setting: Black Mountain Academy

The Hero(s): Knox – everyone at Black Mountain Academy is afraid of him. Rumor is that he killed his Mom when he was a kid and spent a year in a mental hospital. He is the son of an FBI agent that acts like a Drill Sargent and he has hated Aspen since he met her when they were young.

The heroine: Aspen – was a Daddy’s girl until her father was shot by one of his investors after swindling them out of a lot of money. Since her father died, Aspen has made some bad choices because she wants to be loved and because she doesn’t want to be like her mother, who depends on men to take care of her in the style she is accustomed to.

The Love Story: The first time they met when they were kids, Knox attacked Aspen. Since then things have gone from bad to worse. Now they are forced to live together as step brother and step sister.

Knox is definitely a bully, though I have to admit I kinda like him. He doesn’t care what anyone thinks and he does some pretty cruel stuff. However, he also does some pretty cool stuff. Knox obviously believes in karmic retribution and does it well. I loved that about him.

Though this book was a bit different that your average bully romance. There is suspense, danger and some crazy things going on. The book was pretty twisted but in a good way. I was really rooting for a few people to get what they deserved and despite how deviant Knox was at times, I wanted him to come out ahead. I also hated a lot of the things Aspen did, but I wanted their romance to persevere.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
