The Soul Trapper (Superpowers Romance, #3). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Soul Trapper by Ana Calin

My rating: 5 of 5 stars.

Saphira is cursed with exceptional beauty. To her parents, she’s a goldmine. They want to find her a rich husband to save their own failing business. Enter the Marquis, a wealthy assassin with a secret grudge against Saphira’s parents and the rest of the town’s elite.

Forced into an arrangement she can’t escape, Saphira is pulled down a dark path of revenge. Certain she won’t survive the Marquis’s plot, she tries to keep her sanity by doing the one thing she knows how–she paints him. What she doesn’t expect is that her nemesis has another face only she can see. And that she has hidden powers of her own, powers that can either redeem or doom his soul.

For fans of The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Phantom of the Opera, Charlotte Bronte and gothic love stories

Different but I liked it!

I didn’t think I would like a story about men shifting into large snake-like creatures but this was actually pretty good. The men were resolved in getting revenge against the ‘Elite’ group that cut them open as children and performed genetic experiments on them which turned them into Serpent shifters and trained them as assassins.

The Marquis de Vandeness (Kieran), is the leader of the shifters and the strongest of them all. His plan was to use Saphira, the daughter of one of the members of the Elite, but as he gets to know her, he falls in love with her. Saphira is scared of Kieran and his friends when she sees them in Serpent form. Apparently Serpent shifters are not as cute and cuddly as wolf shifters. LOL.

Though the romance between the two main characters is very hot and the story is really good. It seems that there will be future books. The next story lining up is between Kieran’s second in command, Zed, and Saphira’s friend Viviane. I can’t wait to read it.
