Review: Alpha Mike Foxtrot by Giulia Lagomarsino. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Alpha Mike Foxtrot by Giulia Lagomarsino

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

They call me crazy, lethal—psychotic.

I’m all those things and more.

The darkness calls to me, sending me spiraling out of control. But one woman calms me, bringing me back from the edge when I’m about to lose it. She’s my savior in every way possible. But she doesn’t even know I exist. Yet. I see the way she struggles, trying to maintain her sanity. I won’t let her go down the same path as my mother. She won’t be another statistic. There’s only one thing for me to do—take her. It’s not kidnapping if you know the person. She didn’t believe me when I said that. But I’m not worried about it.

She’ll soon find out there are worse things than being hitched to my wagon. I’ll cherish the ground she walks on for the rest of my life, whether she’s in it or not. She is my priority, the only reason I continue to live in the darkness. I’m not naive. Just because I want Anna doesn’t mean I can have her. I am not a good man, but I am the man for her. I will protect her with my life, slaughter anyone that tries to take her from me. And when an enemy threat looms, I’ll remove them just like any other baddie. There is no surviving when The Phantom is calling to me.

Alpha Mike Foxtrot

Crazy like a Fox!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤💚💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌎
Character development: 😔😃😂🥰😘

The Hero: Fox – he works for Owens Protective Services, though they hardly ever let him go out on missions. It is because he is psychotic, and everyone knows it. He loves to hurt, maim and kill, so he is in charge of training the rest of the staff. He loves musicals (especially musical theatre, but movie musicals as well). He sings show tunes while he tortures and kills. He is big, strong, muscular and dangerous, with inner demons, but is also funny and lovable. You just never want to get on his bad side.

The heroine: Anna – everyone saw her as a rising Hollywood star, though inside she was barely surviving. She never wanted to be an actress, she just kind of fell into it when she was discovered and she needed money. She didn’t realize when she signed a contract with her smarmy manager Tony, that he would basically own her for years, making all her decisions for her. She had been saving for years to get the money to buy out her contract and her desperation was getting out of hand, plunging her into depression.

The Story: when OPS was hired by Reed Security to protect their assassin Knight, Fox immediately wanted the job. Knight was a psycho and a killer and Fox needed to get away and get out of his head for a while, so he thought what could be better than to be around someone like him. Though the boss didn’t think it was a good idea. He actually thought Fox would drive Knight crazy and one of them would be killed. So, Fox took off for California instead. He had been watching Anna for years and wanted to get closer, to make sure she didn’t end up like his mother.

Fox meets Anna in an alley behind the venue where she is attending the premiere of her latest movie. Anna just needed to get away from Tony and her costar Jackson whom she couldn’t stand, so she went out for air. Fox knew she needed protection, especially after seeing her alone in a dark alley, so when she refused to accompany him, he gave her no choice.

I have to say that the meet cute between the two main characters was one of the best I have ever read. Their witty banter was not only intellectually stimulating but pure comedy as well. When Anna steps from the frying pan into the fire, things really get going. I was looking forward to this book, since I have really liked Fox since the first book. He reminds me a bit of Knight who is my favorite character in the Reed Security series. Though Knight is a bit better at keeping his crazy under wraps. Fox’s crazy is out there for all to see.

It seems like in series like these where you get to know all the characters early on in the series and you wait for the book with your favorite character, but it turns out your expectations are too high, and the book is never as good as you had hoped it would be. Though this time, the book was even better. I loved this story right from the beginning and there were so many funny parts, I was laughing out loud throughout the whole thing.

I have to say, this is one of my favorites of Giulia Lagomarsino’s books, and I have rated a lot of hers as 5 stars. There are steamy scenes and a lot of chemistry, but these books don’t have the long explicit sex scenes, or the high number of intimate scenes that are in truly erotic romance novels. The action and romantic suspense makes up for all that in my opinion.
