Shattered Cyborg by Nellie C. Lind
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
SHE’S HIS ONLY SALVATION
Shattered Cyborg
Can’t find Mr. Right? Why not create him? MedAct is the company that can make all your dreams come true! Just give them a call and let them create the perfect man for you. But remember, you can never give him up. It will kill him, literally.
From the day Soul opened his eyes, he’s been living a life no cyborg should live. A life filled with pain and heartache. His bound one is cold, abusive, and doesn’t care about him, and he can’t tell anyone because he’s been ordered not to. As a cyborg soldier, he has no choice but to obey, until he finds his salvation in the MedAct doctor Olive Baker.
Olive is the head of the cyborg soldiers and a technological genius. She’s one of the few who dares to deal with the fierce cyborg soldiers who are even deadlier than the regular cyborgs. She takes her work seriously and must push her feelings for Soul aside. They can never be. He’s bound to another, and yearning for someone else’s cyborg, is a dead end. That is, until Soul does something no cyborg has done before him and changes both of their fates forever.
Please note: This story contains explicit sexual scenes intended for readers 18+ and scenes of abuse that can be triggering for some readers. Each book can be read as a stand-alone, but for a better reading experience, it’s recommended to read them in order.
I need more of this series!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤💚💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌎
Character development: 😔😃😤🥰😘
The Hero: Soul – he is a soldier cyborg, one of the biggest, and he is bound to Dr. Janice Walker who thinks of him as a machine and not a man. She is sadistic and cruel and uses the cyborg program for her own gain. She has abused him for years and he finally had enough, left to help the fighters and went into hiding because he has a tracker inside him and didn’t want to give away the hideout where the fighters live.
The heroine: Olive – she is a doctor at MedAct who specializes in cyborg soldiers and computer science, she has had a crush on Soul for quite a long time. She recently helped the former CEO of MedAct by hacking into a secure server. She now is aware there is more going on in her company than she ever guessed, and she also found out that the former CEO and creator of the cyborgs, Carolyn Williams is still alive and has been disguised as another doctor, the very same one who is bound to Soul. She somehow changed her appearance and looks much younger than she should for her age.
The Story: This book doesn’t start right where the prior one ended like the last few. It goes back in time to when Soul was still living at MedAct right before being sent to guard the warehouse after the fighters hacked into Jade’s computer. Soul hated his bound one, so was trying to force his bond to switch to Olive. Over a few years, he gradually got used to the thought of her and was able to touch her in a friendly way without his bond objecting. Though when he finally built himself up enough to try to kiss her, he was saddened when he didn’t flash (indicating that the bond to Olive was initiating).
There was also a side storyline about another newborn cyborg soldier named Fox who was built to be a leader but was behaving differently than any other newborn. It smacked of a conspiracy somewhere within MedAct. Especially after Olive sees Fox talking to a strange older man at MedAct and then she sees some irregularities in Fox’s creation and in his code.
I have to say, that I was surprised by this book, because the last few books talked about the creation of a female cyborg being the answer to getting rid of the bond and freeing the cyborgs, but this book didn’t further that plan anymore. The last book barely furthered it as well, though the side storyline about Janice and what she was up to did complicate it more. I have a very bad feeling about what is happening to Heaven and the rest of the Fighters that have been sent to XenthAid. And to top it all off, there is a brand-new threat introduced in this book as well.
I really like this series though and hope there will be more books. There are so many great characters like Blaze, Phoenix, Heaven, Winter, Fox and more. I hope Nellie Lind is in the process of writing more books for this series. There seems to be a lot of unresolved issues, so I can’t wait.
