Damien isn’t sure, but he knows what’ll happen if he fails: the insane goddess will execute the only two women Damien’s ever cared for. (It’s complicated.)

Also, there’s the small matter of his assistant, who believes her destiny is to become a vampire herself. (It’s very complicated.)

Unfortunately, the vampire in question hates the modern world, has a severe attachment to his lair, and he makes it a point to kill anyone who gets too close. No mercy.

Can Damien and his crew of supernatural oddballs convince this deadly vampire to come out of hiding before it’s too late?

The Characters:
Damien – the immortal tailor (and fixer). He has lived for hundreds of years, thinking he was cursed to live his life alone. He was a warrior, a fixer, and most recently a tailor. He loved his boring and solitary life. He didn’t want to get to know and love anyone because everyone he loved died from his curse. Though he recently found out that he was never cursed, he was just unlucky and he wasn’t immortal, he just happened to have a very long life due to a family anomaly. Though now he is truly immortal and works as a fixer for the God Cimil. His first job is to find the last Vampire who is hiding out in the Amazon.

Sky – a former investigative journalist and girlfriend of Damien. She died and was brought back as an immortal using a body which was made by a company called SBP (Supernatural Body Parts) that kidnapped immortals and stole parts of them in order to ground them up to grow immortal bodies for the wealthy. She agreed to work for Cimil and help Damien in exchange for her new body.

Willa – she was a witch and was the girlfriend of Damien hundreds of years ago. She is the one that he thought cursed him. She was not a nice woman. She was brought back as an immortal in one of the two new bodies that SBP grew before Cimil’s unicorn blew up their company. Willa is supposed to now help Damien with his fixer business also.

Cimil – she he used to be the goddess of the underworld, but now she is the goddess of death and war. All the other gods thought the time of gods was over, so they went on permanent vacation. Cimil is supposed to be retired as well, but she knows if leaves humans to their own devices, the world will go to crap. So she is still working part time, and she got Damien to help her out. Cimil loves to create chaos.

Pet – a tiny sex fairy who recently got her wings pulled off. Damien sewed them back on and they are healing. She now just hangs around him since he makes her feel safe. She was the one that distracted Damien so he ended up running over Sky with his SUV and killing her.

MF – she was a vampire who became human when Cimil’s unicorn mated with a hellhound and the resulting explosion turned all vampires (except the vampire in the jungle) mortal. MF came to work at the immortal tailor’s shop to help out with his tailor business while he was working as a fixer. She wants to be a vampire again and Cimil promised she would be when the vampire in the jungle was found and brought back to Los Angeles.

Maxton – he is the vampire in the jungle. He hides out at his home/cave deep in the jungle, doesn’t let anyone come near and kills anyone who tries. He doesn’t like the modern world and doesn’t want to leave his home. Cimil wants him to restart the vampire race since he is the only vampire that survived the great explosion.

The Story: So Damien and his band of misfits go to the jungle to find Maxton, minus Sky and Willa, his two sidekicks. Meanwhile, Sky wants to take up where she left off while she was alive and post the rest of her series of articles about what she originally thought was human sex trafficking but turned out to be what SBP corp was doing to humans and supernaturals in order to create immortal bodies for the wealthy. She wants to take down the governor and his cronies who were involved.

I didn’t think this one could get any crazier than the first book, but it really did. So much happened and the word whimsical comes to mind, though it gets serious as well. There is a lot of talk of killing many of the characters and some actual killing as well. There was a four hour knock down drag out fight between two of the main characters and a witch putting spells on people. There were some steamy scenes, some big laughs and even bigger surprises, which made for a very thrilling and wild ride with another cliffhanger at the end. I can’t wait for the next one!
