The heroine: Elise Callisto – her brother Gareth had died of a drug overdose and Elise knew that he would never willingly take drugs, so she is determined to find out who killed him. She got herself enrolled in Aurora Academy, where Gareth had been going to school and living. Now she was on the hunt to find his killer, whom a source told her was a King, so the kings of the academy are some of her main suspects.

The Heroes: Gabriel Nox – he is a harpy and has the strongest magic of anyone at the academy. He has a secret about what he did to Gareth on the day he died, but he didn’t kill him. He is helping Elise to find out who did kill him. Gabriel knows that Elise is his Elysian mate.
Dante Oscura – he is a storm dragon shifter who can create lightning with ease. He is also the head of the Oscura gang. Gareth did jobs for him while he was alive, but Gareth was also doing jobs for the Lunar brotherhood, so if Dante found out he would have killed Gareth.
Leon Night – he is a nemean lion shifter and has a ton of animal magnetism which makes women do things for him. He was best friends with Gareth, but Gareth stole something that belonged to his family and if he ever found out, who knows what he would do to Gareth.
Ryder Draconis – he is a basilisk shifter and head of the Lunar brotherhood. Gareth was working for him, and he showed Gareth how he killed anyone who betrayed him. Gareth was betraying him by working for the rival gang, the Oscura clan.

The Story: Dante’s uncle Felix had been killing the Lunar brotherhood and anyone who gets in his way for months. Felix, who was leading the Oscura clan while Dante was at the academy, deserves to die and Ryder had a plan to kill him and many of the Oscura clan using a potion he concocted which took away Fae powers for a short time. Though Felix somehow snuck out of the club, Dante and Elise were there and a huge confrontation took place.

I love the little quirky details in this series. They have silencing bubbles they can conjure wherever they are which are like a cone of silence where nobody near can hear them. They all have an Atlas, which is like their iPhone or iPad that they use to message each other and look up things on the web or they can go to Faebook to see what everyone is posting. They play a game called Pitball, and everyone reads their daily horoscope which are nearly always correct. There is also a Fae Investigation Bureau (FIB), and this rat shifter (bullied geek), named Eugene Dipper whom I really like and am glad Elise is semi-nice to.

The audiobook was told in multiple points of view via dual narration. It was narrated by Troy Duran and Kiera Stevens. Kiera is terrific, but I am even more impressed with Troy Duran than usual. I usually like reverse harem audiobooks when there is a different narrator for each of the male characters, but Troy is like that. He has a very deep gravelly voice for Ryder; a laid-back, easy-going voice for Leon; a slightly Italian accent for Dante; a dark and brooding voice for Gabriel and a straight middle class American voice for Gareth. A lot happened in this book, though we are still hearing chapters from Gareth to see what led to his death and he is still 10 months away from the day he died.
