Acer by Kelsey Nicole Price
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
When the Global Allegiance terminated all Cyborgs, rumors were rampant that they still existed, either hidden away with wealthy collectors or—even more scandalous—part of the Cyborg Rebellion.
Acer
Marley
Cyborgs were my life but there was only one that had captured my heart.
No one saw his worth.
No one but me.
A cruel twist of fate ripped him away and stole years of my life.
Locked in a cell, I could only see him in my dreams.
Then he found me and my dreams became reality.
Forever by his side was now within my grasp.
Acer is the cyborg of my dreams. He just needs to believe it.
Acer
I’m an abomination.
An unfinished prototype who hated everyone except for her.
My processors refused to stop searching for her until the day I found her and carried her home.
My fabricated heart shouldn’t long for forever. My incomplete frame shouldn’t want to hold her and never let go.
Still there is no denying my desire to belong to her.
But I am hiding secrets and I know it’s only a matter of time before they tear us apart.
I should walk away but I can’t give up the only person who looks at me like I’m whole.
I desperately want to be the cyborg of her dreams but what if I am destined to be the cyborg of her nightmares?
An unfinished cyborg!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎
Character development: ☺️😊😁😉
The Hero: Acer (a.k.a.763-893) – he is the only yellow cyborg in existence. Cyborgs are formed in a vat and when it was determined that no humans would want to own a yellow cyborg, the production of him and his brother was stopped mid cycle. So, he is unfinished, parts of him are just metal with no skin, including part of his face, his arms and more. He also has unfinished or incomplete coding in his processors.
The heroine: Marley – she was a Mechtech for Global Allegiance. She used to be charged with fixing the cyborgs after they were damaged in the experiments. She often worked on 763-893 and would call him sunshine and hum “You are my sunshine” when she worked on him. When the cyborgs were slated for termination and revolted, Marley mistakenly trusted Dr. Rosenfield who faked Marley’s death and kept her prisoner for 30 years, performing experiments on her and keeping her in stasis between experiments.
The story: When the team of cyborgs and humans went to rescue Theo and Reaper from evil Dr. Rosenfield, Acer found Marley nearly dead in a dark cell. He brought her back to the rebellion headquarters and gave her Dax’s serum to save her and turn her into an upgraded human. Marley is now strong and healthy.
Acer knows he has gaps in his programming that have been getting worse every year, it is like a devil on his shoulder giving him bad advice and he knows he can’t keep Marley forever but doesn’t want to give her up now that he has finally found her. I think it is cute how he is ashamed of his half-finished appearance, but she doesn’t see anything wrong with him and sees him as perfect.
There were some surprises in this one but not as much action as in the first two books. It was good but the world building was not quite at the level of the first two books either. Since there was less going on and less action there seemed to be more steamy scenes and I found myself skimming over many of them as I wanted more story and less smut.
