The heroine: Cecilia – she was a cancer survivor who was abducted from Earth by a cruel race of aliens and rescued by the warriors of Luxiria. She feels that her cancer has returned, she has been getting night sweats again. She is far from Earth where she can get treatment for her cancer and is a different race than the people who live on the planet, so fears she will keep getting worse.
The Hero: Rixavox – He is one of the seven Ambassadors of Luxiria, in charge of one of the outposts. He was one of the most brutal generals in the war and he had a way with the ladies since he has been an ambassador. He just returned to the golden city from a mission to retaliate against the Gitutians for their acts in abducting the human females. He can’t wait to get back to his outpost and find a pleasure mate to take away all the stress from being off planet.
The Story: Rixavox was curious about the human females, though the prime leader has kept them separate from the population since they might trigger a mating instinct in a male and a mated male could be dangerous, wanting to take the human away and never letting her go. Meanwhile Cecilia was taken away by the doctor who said he could cure her. Apparently cancer is treatable in the Luxirians. Though first she must go to an outpost in the North to bathe each day in a sacred pool to rid her body of toxins. So Rixavox is tasked with accompanying Cecilia to his home.
I liked the story and the characters. Rixavox promised the prime leader that he would take care of Cecilia when they were at his outpost, so it was a bit of a slow burn, but I liked that his playboy ways ended as soon as he saw Cecilia and knew she was his mate. Though his decision to have one of his old lovers as a companion to Cecilia was a strange one even though Cecilia knew the whole time and agreed to it.
This book was told in dual points of view via duet narration, and was narrated by Sierra Grace and Tristan Josiah. I had already read the first and last books of this series and I bought some more because I liked the stories and the fact that they are done in duet narration and both these narrators are good at doing different voices.
