Audiobook Review: Corsairs: Straik (Corsair Brothers, #3). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Corsairs: Straik by Ruby Dixon

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What’s worse than finding a lost ship full of stolen humans? It’s finding out that your family is responsible. This is a wrong I have to somehow right, so I take off to find answers…and discover one of those kidnapped humans has stowed away on my ship.

She’s furious that I’ve deserted her friends. She’s determined to make me pay. Ruth swears vengeance and won’t be satisfied until she sees me destroyed.

It’s a battle of wills I’m determined to win.

Instead of breaking Ruth, I find that I’ll do just about anything to get her to kiss me again.

Now…who’s bending who?

Corsairs: Straik

A space odyssey!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🤎🖤💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔

Narration Type: Dual Narration

The Heroes: Lord Straik – he is a space pirate, along with the Va Sithai brothers from the first few books. However, when they come across the Bouyant Star, a large commercial vessel that Straik’s family owns, which had been lost in space, he finds that the Star did not contain silks and spices like he had been told, but his family had been involved in the slave trade. He is so distraught, that he gets back aboard their pirate ship, The Darkened Eye, which was bought with his family’s wealth and goes off to find out what other secrets his family has kept from him.

The heroine: Ruth – when she was awoken from stasis on the Bouyant Star to find that she had been stolen from Earth to never return and was to be sold as a slave. All she feels is rage. So when they are boarded by space pirates, she in turn boards their ship to see what she can find. When she finds that Straik has come back aboard and taken off, Ruth hides in the ducts and her rage grows.

The Story: Straik is off in his own head and feeling gloomy because of his family, he is disturbed by the A’ani crew who seem to be bothered with something. Though the only thing they will tell him is that some food is missing. He tells them not to worry about it, that they have plenty of food to go around.

Though the crew says they are also worried about the fact that Straik left the rest of the corsairs behind on the bouyant star which isn’t a functioning vessel. Though the human females had been fine on the ship for years before they were found, so Straik knew that they would be fine until he returned for them.

This is a good story from the start. Ruth thinks Straik is a spoiled sulky brat, which he is. Straik is so upset about what he found out about his family that he just sits around and broods for days. Ruth has made friends with Dopek, one of the A’ani crew who help her hide away when he found her. I love that when Straik finds Ruth taking a bath in his tub, instead of being fearful, she gives him a piece of her mind.

This story is told in dual points of view via dual narration. The narrators are Mason Lloyd and Hollie Jackson who do the narration for most of Ruby Dixon’s books and do a great job as always. I like this Corsairs series because most of them take place on spaceships and I like the high tech world of a spaceship more than a primitive alien world. They faced a number of obstacles and go to a few different places on their journey and I really enjoyed this one!
