Audiobook Review: The Date from Hell (Not Your Average Hot Guy, #2). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Date from Hell by Gwenda Bond

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After saving the world and stopping the apocalypse, Callie and Luke are looking forward to a quiet, romantic weekend together. When you’re human and dating the Prince of Hell, quiet moments are hard to come by. But their romantic weekend in Hell takes a turn when Lucifer tasks Callie and Luke with chasing a wayward soul around the world. If they can prove it’s possible to redeem a soul, Lucifer will allow the two of them to make some changes in Hell.

But this wayward soul, Sean, doesn’t have any interest in being redeemed. Instead, now that he’s back on Earth, he’s decided to take a leaf out of Callie and Luke’s book and wants to find the Holy Grail. Now Callie, Luke, and their friends―and enemies―must race Sean around the globe on a Grail quest and bring peace between Heaven and Hell before they can finally (maybe) get around to that date.

The Date from Hell

A Grail Quest to change the rules of Hell!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🤎🖤❤️
Steam: 🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌏
Character development: 😠😘🤓😉
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Callie – Callie is a college graduate who learned that her history major is hard to translate into an actual job, so she is still working at her mother’s escape room business. In between work days she goes with her boyfriend Luke Asteroth Morningstar to Hell where she has been going through the awesome library. She came up with an idea that she wants to implement that will change Hell, Heaven and the world.

The Hero: Luke – He is still trying to be himself while getting on the the good side of his father Lucifer, though he knows that is no easy feat. He wants to spend more time with Callie and helps her with her idea, though first they have to get approval from Lucifer.

The Story: Callie and Luke see that the people who are sent to have done vastly different things, like one eleven year old girl from the middle ages that is spending an eternity in Hell because she stole a bible from her church. Though it was deemed a mortal sin at the time, she just wanted to read it and see the pictures and girls were not allowed. So they think that some of the people that have been damned to hell, are redeemable and should get a second chance.

So they take the idea to Lucifer, who loves to create chaos, and he says they will try out the idea if Callie and Luke can redeem a certain sinner named Sean within 72 hours. He throws another wrench in their plans when he takes Lukes wings and powers and gives them to Callie for that time. Luke thinks he legendary charm is part of him, but soon finds out that was part of his powers.

This book is told in multiple points of view via dual narration. Narrated by Graham Halstead and Karissa Vacker. Graham Halstead did the chapters in Lukes point of view, Karissa Vacker did those chapters in Callie’s point of view. The narration was terrific and I loved Not Your Average Hot Guy and this story was really good as well. There is a mystery about who Sean was when he was alive, how he can travel so fast and they end up on a quest to find the holy grail.
