Scoring Chance by Teagan Hunter is now live!
Scoring on the ice? Piece of cake.
Scoring off it? Well, there’s a reason I’m still a virgin.
I’m not entirely clueless with women, though I do tend to put my foot in my mouth around them far too often.
Like I did with Scout, the donut maker I stupidly introduced myself to despite visiting her truck for years.
Maybe my teammates have a reason to call me the dumb one, but I’m determined to prove them all wrong—Scout included.
I want to be her friend. Want her to see the real me.
What I’m not expecting is to like her so much when we start spending time together…or want to kiss her so badly.
I’m the jock, and she’s the bookworm.
On paper, we make no sense together.
But maybe I have a scoring chance with her after all.

Meet Teagan
TEAGAN HUNTER is a Missouri-raised gal but currently lives in South Carolina with her Marine veteran husband, where she spends her days begging him for a cat. She survives off coffee, pizza, and sarcasm. When she’s not writing, you can find her binge-watching various TV shows, especially Supernatural and One Tree Hill. She enjoys cold weather, buys more paperbacks than she’ll ever read, and never says no to brownies.

My review of Scoring Chance
Scoring Chance by Teagan Hunter
My rating: 4 of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hockey guy and donut girl!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌎
Character development: 😎☺️🙃😚
The heroine: Scout Thomas – She owns a popular donut truck and sees herself as the kind of girl that is always in the background while more outgoing women put themselves out there, she is not seen. She dreams of writing and publishing a romance novel and has a huge crush on Grady Miller, pro hockey star with good looks that would make any male model jealous.
The Hero: Grady Miller – a 24 year old NHL Hockey player for the Carolina Comets. He is also a virgin. He lived for Hockey, from 4 am practices every morning as a teen, to running drills into the evening, games on the weekends and not wanting his GPA to suffer. He just never had the time for girls. Now all his hard work has paid off and he is awkward with women and doesn’t know how to rectify the situation.
The Story: Grady comes to Scouts food truck at least once a month. He is the kind of celebrity who will take the time to sign autographs and take photos with the fans that sometimes surround him and the kind of nice guy that will buy a dozen donuts and go share them with the homeless man down the street. He also saw Scout at a party one night a few weeks back and didn’t recognize her, which just affirms what she already thinks about herself.
I must say I don’t usually like it when the hero is a virgin, in this day and age it is rare enough when the woman is one, but for a handsome man who is also a jock to be one, it is like finding a unicorn swimming in the middle of the ocean. Though I must say it is explained well, between Grady’s uber strict parents who drove him to focus on nothing but hockey and school with no time for distractions to his own drive for success. I also liked the fact that he has some sexual experience so he is not a total newbie.
Teagan Hunter is great at writing lots of supporting characters and giving plenty of information about them each so they aren’t just one-dimensional background material, they are living and breathing people with their own personalities. Many of them are the guys from previous books and their women and there is plenty of information that you can read each book as a standalone and not feel lost. There are also the rest of the teammates and people in Scouts life.
I wanted to learn more about both Scout and Grady from the start, more about how they grew up and the issues in their pasts that made them who they were at the beginning of the book. The relationship between these two built in time and through contact and texting (no insta-love), so that was fun to read as well.
I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
