Using Fejo by Victoria Aveline
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
She’ll do anything to get home. He’ll do anything to keep her with him, forever…
Using Fejo
…
Vanessa doesn’t have the luxury of building a happily ever after on a new planet like her fellow alien abduction survivors. She must get back to Earth. Her family needs her, and she can’t afford to let them down again. So, she’ll find a way to break Clecanian law and get home—even if she has to marry (and betray) a sexy space pirate to do it.
…
Fejo can’t believe his luck when Vanessa, a gorgeous human with a sharp tongue, chooses him as her husband. He doesn’t know what he did to win her favor, but he’s determined to do everything in his power to make her happy. If only he could figure out why his alien bride is so reluctant to accept the kindness—and pleasure—he’s so eager to offer.
…
Vanessa’s plan was simple. Until she started falling for her ridiculously charming husband. Now, she has to figure out how to get home without breaking Fejo’s heart—or her own. Easy, right?
There’s no place like home!

The heroine: Vanessa – She is the human female who most wants to get back to Earth. Many of the other females that were abducted from Earth and are more than happy to start new lives on their new planet. But Vanessa wasn’t alone in the world. She had family on Earth and wants nothing more than to get back to them.
The Hero: Fejo – He is a Clecanian male who wants a wife. He feels that women will not want him because he is the captain of a merchant space ship and most of the marriages on his planet only last for 3 months and he thinks women wouldn’t want to spend that time on a cramped ship.
The Story: Usually when Fejo enters the marriage lottery, several women want to test him every year but never pick him. So when Vanessa seems interested in marrying him, he thinks if he treats her well enough, she would want to stay with him forever. He was tired of women who only wanted him for what they could get from him.
Little did he know that the very reason Vanessa was choosing him because he owned a ship and was known for being able to get in and out of dangerous places. Since it was unlawful to land on Earth, Vanessa was hoping that by marrying Fejo, she would be able to get back to Earth. One of her friends set up a meeting on one of the ports where the ship stops, between her and a ship that could take her back to Earth.
The book is told in dual points of view via solo narration. Like the rest of the books in this series, it was narrated by Stephen Dexter who does a great job. He has a very pleasing tone and does different voices for the different characters. I have really been liking this series since each book takes place in a completely different setting, it has been like traveling the universe and seeing all the sights as I read each one.
I liked the story and really liked Fejo. He was strong, dominant and caring. Vanessa seemed a bit selfish, but her sister is dying and she really does have a good reason for wanting to get back to Earth.
