Audiobook Review: The Bite That Binds (Deep in Your Veins, #2) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Bite That Binds by Suzanne Wright

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sam will be Binding with Jared in just over a week, and the only thing she wants is to spend that time relaxing and preparing for the ceremony. Unfortunately, she seems to be asking too much of fate, because suddenly she’s lumbered with a number of distractions that have the potential to postpone, or even cancel, the Binding. There’s a guarded fiancé to crack, a complicated assignment to deal with, Jared’s ex to alienate, and a bunch of snobbish Master Vampires to win over – or offend, whichever. On the upside, things couldn’t possibly be any worse, could they? Actually, yes they could.

Due to a cruel twist of fate, something strange is happening to Sam –something that is changing her in ways she doesn’t like or understand. With the help of Jared and those closest to her, she has to not only handle the threats to the Binding Ceremony, but find a way to fix what has been done to her – and fast.

A Bite that Binds

Wonderful characters and cool powers!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 🤎🖤💜💙❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📔📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌍
Character development: 😲🫣😡😤🥰

The heroine: Samantha (a.k.a. Sam) – a Sventé vampire, which is the kind of vampire that is usually looked down upon by the other two types of vampires, since they can control their blood lust and can easily integrate with humans. However, Sam has gifts that make her more powerful than most others. She works for the Grand High Master Vampire and is in love with Jared who is the heir to the Grand High Master, Antonio.

The Hero: Jared – Jared is a Pagori Vampire, the strongest of the three types and has some powerful gifts as well. At the end of the previous book, he finally realized he is in Love with Sam, and they are soon to have a binding ceremony.

The Story: Sam and Jared are in love and they, along with their squad of enforcers are tasked with dealing with threats from within the vampire community. To make matters worse, Jared’s maker Magda is coming for their binding ceremony and the celebrations beforehand which is her right as his maker. However, Jared is worried for Sam since Magda likes to hurt people that are important to Jared.

I really enjoyed the first book and am liking this world. The world building has been great in these books and I love that each of the vampires have their own gift(s). There are some pretty fantastic gifts which are like special powers. Things like the ability to teleport, telekinesis, the ability to gather energy and use it as a whip, the ability to change into all kinds of animals, astral projection, the ability to make a tattoo come to life and much more.

There were some great characters, both Heroes and Villains. The romance was terrific as well. Jared was a huge sexist in the first book as the title says. His love for Sam changed his ways and I loved how supportive and protective he was in this book. There were also some really good side storylines which kept things moving and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
