Review/Release Blitz: Love on the Lake by Helena Hunting.

Can Aaron love her, even when she can’t love herself?

Love on the Lake, an emotional small town, standalone romance from New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting is live now!

Teagan Firestone has always been the dutiful daughter, especially since her mom died. But as her father finally begins to move on, it’s her turn to do the same. Her destination: Pearl Lake, a close-knit community with an entrepreneurial spirit and secrets of its own.

One of them is Aaron Saunders, who dropped out of college to work construction for Pearl Lake’s upper class. He’s a mystery and has a playboy reputation—that is, until he meets Teagan. Neither of them is looking for love, but in a town this small, it’s hard not to let your heart get involved.

As their romance heats up, Aaron’s elusive past comes to light and Teagan is there for him, bringing them even closer together. But when Teagan is forced to face her own demons, her inability to accept the support of friends and family threatens the life she’s worked so hard to build.

My Review of Love on the Lake

Love on the Lake by Helena Hunting

My rating: 5 of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’m loving lake life!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💛🖤💜💙❤️
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎🌏
Character development: 😕🤬🤯😎🥰

The heroine(s): Teagan Firestone – she is twenty-six, lives with her father and she works at his financial company. She comes from a very wealthy background but found out that it was all a mirage and they were deeply in debt. So she stayed with her father to help him change his life and get out of the hole they were in. Meanwhile moving from a mansion into an affordable house on a budget.

The Hero: Aaron Saunders – lives in Pearl Lake and works at the construction company owned by Teagan’s brothers fiancé’s family. He does construction projects on many of the McMansions across the lake and has a reputation for “mowing the lawns” of many of the rich bored women from that side of the lake.

The Story: When Teagan’s father moves his girlfriend into his house, Teagan figures it is time she starts to live for herself and figure out what she wants in life. So she moves into the garage apartment of her brother Van in Pearl lake. She meets Aaron and they get off to an acrimonious start.

Teagan can’t figure out why Aaron seems to dislike her so much when he flirts with all of the other women in the small town of Pearl Lake. Aaron is the kind of guy to star in fantasies. He is 6’5”, hard muscles and handsome to boot.

I really liked this book. Helena Hunting is really good at writing chemistry between her characters. I could feel the heat between these two from the start. I also loved the fact that they were like real people. Not an anti-hero and a virginal good girl. I didn’t have to wait half or three quarters of the book for the steam between them to ignite.

There is nothing wrong with two people enjoy being intimate so I don’t know why so many romances have to have either virginal heroines or women ashamed of their pasts. I like it when the heroine can own her sexuality without it being an issue.

This book was dual POV and included some mystery with both Aaron and Teagan having secrets and issues. The world building was terrific. I have a lake home in a small town in Wisconsin where some of the homes are modest and filled with locals and some are grand mansion getaways for the wealthy. I could easily imagine the world of Pearl Lake and its residents. Either way, life on the lake is a great getaway. I haven’t been to my lake home in a while so this was nice.

I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
