When She Purrs by Ruby Dixon
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Life on a farm planet at the edge of the universe can be dangerous for a human woman alone.
That’s why I need a husband. ANY husband.
Unfortunately, all the men I approach keep running off. So I hire a bounty hunter to kidnap me someone capable and strong, someone who will scare off the creeps that are trying to move in on my territory.
It’ll be a marriage of convenience only.
I should have been a little more specific about who I wanted, though…because the intimidating and fierce praxiian male that the bounty hunter brings to me? The one with feline features, big arms and an even bigger…uh, farm?
He’s the problem I was hoping a new husband would scare off. What am I supposed to do now?
Don’t ask him, because all of his suggestions are completely and utterly filthy and have nothing to do with a marriage of convenience.
When She Purrs
“Oh my God! I’m being cat courted and never even realized!”

The heroine(s): Kim – a human who was kidnapped from Earth and sold as a slave. She has since gained her freedom and moved to Risa Three where she was granted a parcel of land. Though she has been harassed so needs a husband to help protect her land.
The Hero: Nassakth – He is a Praxiian male. Praxiian’s are huge, broad shouldered cat-like males with a long tail. He farms the plot next door to Kim and has been interested in her for a while. So when he finds out that she hired a bounty hunter to kidnap her a husband, he pays the bounty hunter to kidnap him for Kim.
The Story: Kim is distressed to see that the man the bounty hunter got for her in none other than the neighbor that she is afraid of. He has been courting her in the way of his people, but she thinks it is harassment. Especially considered he marked her door with Jiz to announce to others that she is his.
Kim doesn’t know what to do with Nassakth when she gets him. She immediately recognizes him as her neighbor and keeps him tied to a chair. Her crop just happens to be a drug that works only for the Praxiian males and is an aphrodisiac. It is the only crop that can be grown on her dry arid parcel of land.
The narration was done by Jillian Macie and Mason Lloyd. It was dual POV and I enjoy both of their voices. Mason Lloyed has a bit of a stilted tempo but since Nassakth is an alien the cadence seems to work fine, so I enjoyed the narration quite well overall.
The story was good and this one was much more than just a smut fest like When She Dances which is the last one I listened to in this series. I thought it was so cute that Nassakth brushes his tail for Kim and that she notices and likes it.
