Audiobook Review: Wicked (A Wicked Trilogy, #1). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wicked by Jennifer L. Armentrout

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Twenty-two-year-old Ivy Morgan isn’t your average college student. She, and others like her, know that humans aren’t the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun… and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. Four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she’d sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart.

Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He’s six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers that are stalking the streets. As Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes that she’s not the only one who’s carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. She is no longer sure which is more dangerous to her – the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💛🖤💜💚
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎
Character development: 🦁👱🏻‍♀️🦁👩🏼

The heroine(s): Ivy Morgan – she lives in New Orleans, attends Loyola University and is a member of the Order. The Order are the only people on Earth who know about the Fae. They have closed all the gates to the other world, but many Fae are still in our world, hiding themselves under Glamour and feeding on humans. Members of the order have wards and can see through the glamour. Ivy and her peers only need to put a steel stake through the heart of a Fae to banish them back to the other world.

The Hero: Ren Owens – an Elite member of the Order from Colorado. Ren has come to New Orleans because he is hunting down very dangerous Fae called Elders. They are strong, don’t need glamour, can do magic and steel stakes do not work on them.

The Story: While out on patrol, Ivy comes across a Fae man who wasn’t affected by her stake and materialized a gun out of thin air and shot her. After barely making it back to the Order, she meets Ren. Ivy notices how attractive Ren is and he is attracted to her as well. The leader of the Order puts Ivy and Ren together so she can show him around New Orleans.

The book has a plethora of interesting characters, such as Ivy’s friend Val, the brownie she found, took home and named Tink, and many of the other members of the Order. The narration was done by Amy Landon and though I like dual narration, she was pleasant sounding and I enjoyed listening to this book.
