Audiobook Review: Beneath the Truth (Beneath, #7). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Beneath the Truth by Meghan March

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

From USA Today bestselling author Meghan March comes the final sexy standalone set in the Beneath world of New Orleans.

I used to believe there were lines in life you don’t cross. Don’t lie. Don’t cheat. Don’t steal. Until I learned people don’t always practice what they preach. I turned in my badge and gun and walked away from everything. Then I got the call no one wants, and I’m back in New Orleans. What I don’t expect is for her to be here too. Another line you don’t cross? Don’t touch your best friend’s little sister. She’s always been off-limits. Too bad I don’t follow the rules anymore.

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💙💚🖤💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎🌍
Character development: 😳🤬😏🥵😍

The heroine: Ariel (a.k.a. Ari) – she grew up with the Hennessy boys as the daughter of an officer that worked with Ronan Hennessy (Rhett’s father). She had a huge crush on Rhett while she was young, but has now grown up and hadn’t seen him for five years. She was a hacker as a young girl who grew into a successful businesswoman.

The Hero(s): Rhett Hennessy – a former detective that worked cases in earlier books in this series. In Beneath These Lies he was dating Valentina and had Rix helping him prove his dead brother wasn’t a dirty cop. Rhett handed in his badge after finally finding out the truth. Since then he has been living away from New Orleans and working as a private investigator.

The Story: Rhett’s parents home burns down and his father dies. He returns to Nola for the funeral and to find out exactly what happens. Ari also comes back for the funeral. Their lives intertwine in more than one way and they end up having feelings for each other.

This series is all about alpha men and their women and it has been so worth the read! I love all the guys in this series and Rhett Hennessy has been a character that has appeared in just about every book. We saw what a great guy he was while he was dating Valentina and he deserves his happy ending as well. Rhett is a tattooed alpha male who is on the right side of the law that can get things done and is the perfect southern gentleman like his namesake.

This one had the most complex and harrowing story of this series. All the guys from the previous books showed up in this story and there were a lot of good characters in this one as well including members of Ari’s family, members of Rhett’s family and even Lachlan Mount from the Mount Trilogy. I enjoyed every minute and wish there were even more books in this series.
