The heroine: Yve Santos – she is the manager of Dirty Dog, the quirky shop that Elle worked at in in Beneath these chains before getting a job at the pawn shop. Yve is friends with Elle and Vanessa from Beneath this Ink.

The Hero(s): Lucas Titan – Billionaire businessman and true alpha-hole. He is used to getting what he wants and he wanted Vanessa but she was in love with Constantine. He had basically blackmailed Vanessa into seeing him in order to get introduced into high society. Though it all fell apart when Vanessa decided to tell her family about her association with Constantine, a tattoo shop owner.

The Story: Lucas sees Yve at the fights one night while he is in the ring with Constantine. He can’t forget her and every time her name is brought up he feels a possessiveness that he is not used to. However, Yve has no interest in being anywhere near Lucas.

Yve had a bad experience in the past with an ex that did everything to hurt, belittle her and ruin her self-esteem. Her mentor and owner of Dirty Dog, Harriet plans on selling all of her businesses. Yve finds out Harriet is selling the store and Yve wants to buy it but doesn’t have the money.

Yve’s ex husband who has been in jail for years is also getting out soon and has promised that he won’t let Yve go. These side stories just add to the romance between Lucas and Yve. I liked this book. Both of these protagonists have scars from their pasts but can’t stay away from each other.

The narration was done by Sebastian York and Andi Arndt. These are two of my favorites and always do a great job.
