Audiobook Review: Fire In His Spirit by Ruby Dixon. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fire In His Spirit by Ruby Dixon

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Gwen’s never wanted to be a leader, but when no one else stepped up, she took on the role. As the mayor of post-apocalyptic Shreveport, she’s made decisions to protect her people…and most of them have backfired disastrously.

When she discovers the dangerous gold dragon lurking outside of the fort has decided she’s his mate, heartsick Gwen thinks the best thing she can do is confront him and take him far away from the city.

She does this to save her people – her sister, her friends, her fort. She doesn’t expect to understand the dragon. She certainly doesn’t expect to fall in love.

Fire In His Spirit

Dragon apocalypse!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💙💚🖤💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎🌍
Character development: 😳🤬😏🤓

The heroine: Gwen – the leader (Mayor) in Fort Shreveport in The After. Her sister Daniella was kidnapped by biker nomads and Gwen can’t go after her because she has to take care of everyone else.

The Hero(s): Vaan – Vaan is crazy and can’t remember anything for more than a few minutes, but he knows that he can smell his mate within Fort Shreveport so he returns daily and threatens everyone in the fort.

The Story: Luckily Amy and her dragon mate Rast have come to Fort Shreveport and Rast is able to talk to Vaan. Though the crazy keeps taking Vaan over every day and Rast has to remind him that he has to wait for her to come out, that is Vaan demolishes the Fort he could hurt her or hurt the people she protects and then she would never love him.

Amy explains the mate bond to Gwen and she realizes to keep her sister and friends safe, she has to go with Vaan. I liked this apocalyptic world where crazy dragons reign supreme. I had only read the first of the series so far and was able to pick this one up right away. The dual narration was great and the romance was terrific. The book was quite steamy but still Gwen and Vaan get to know each other very well before becoming mates.

There is more happening in the world and things don’t come as easy to the protagonists in this one as in the first book, but I liked the way the story went and plan to read more from this series. I am liking the relationships and the action.
