Jonah Bennett by Tijan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Tijan comes a new story in her Bennett Mafia universe…
Jonah Bennett wasn’t like his family. The mafia business was firmly what his brothers did, not him.
That changed the day a rival family killed his fiancée.
**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙💚🖤💜❤️

Character development: 😳🤬😏🤓🥰
The heroine: Carson Dayley – a forensic technician in at the county morgue. She grew up on a farm in Kansas, but moved to Texas and loves her job.
The Hero(es): Jonah Bennett – The youngest child in the Bennett family. His oldest brother Kai is the leader of the Bennett Mafia (the family business) and his other older brother brother Tanner is his right hand man. Though Jonah is not part of the business, he is completely outside the mafia. He attended medical school and is now doing his surgical residency.
The Story: After the murder of Jonah’s fiancé, his brother pulls some strings so he can see the body and say goodbye. Carson is at the morgue at the time and meets the brothers. Nearly a year later they meet again at a club in Kansas.
This book starts out like gangbusters and keeps getting better as it goes. I liked the pace of the book and the fact that things were always happening. It was a great story. I don’t want to give away more but I liked the romance. I usually don’t like it when the Hero or heroine is in love with someone who dies, because then they are either depressed or yearning for someone else and it just seems to muddy the romance.
However, I liked this story and though Jonah was very sad about the loss of his fiancé, it didn’t detract from the romance between him and Carson. They have a connection because of the way they met which makes it all work somehow.
