The heroine: Katy – A book blogger and soon to be senior in high school, she recently moved to a small town in West Virginia with her mom. They moved from Florida and after Katy’s dad died, they wanted to get away from all the memories and start fresh in a new place.

The Hero(es): Daemon – lives next door to Katy with his twin sister Dee. Strange things seem to happen with and around them like arms becoming see through and they have extremely green eyes that become almost otherworldly at times.

The story: Katy meets Daemon after moving in next door. He is a jerk to her from the very start. However, his sister Dee really wants to be friends with Katy. Daemon is very overprotective of Dee and despite the fact that Katy hasn’t done anything wrong, Daemon is against the friendship between the two. This is just another reason for Katy to dislike Daemon. It doesn’t help that he is super hot and Katy has trouble keeping her eyes off him.

I really liked the storylines in this book. There is so much opposition to Katy and Daemon having a relationship that if/when they decide they like each other there are a ton of things to keep them apart. First and foremost being that she is a human and he a Luxen (alien).

On top of that, the Luxen have enemies that try to kill them and steal their powers. The Department of Defense knows about the Luxen and checks in on them to make sure they are following the rules, meaning not doing anything to let humans know they are aliens. Then there are the other Luxen who are completely against any sort of lasting relationship between Luxen and humans.

There is a lot of chemistry between Daemon and Katy which I liked, but it is a true young adult book so there is nothing too steamy, though I think young adults can handle a bit more steam. Kids these days are doing crazy things a young age so I don’t think a bit of steam in a romance novel is going to surprise them. Though that is just me. I will be reading/listening to the rest of the series either way because I like the characters and plot.

As for the Narration, I have said this before but will say it every time. I think that even when a book is told only in the POV of one of the characters, there should be dual narrators. I would like to hear a guys voice saying the things the male characters say, and a female to say all the female things. I just hate hearing a woman do a deep voice for the guy. Why not just have a guy? So I am taking a point off of the narration for this.
