No one can know who I really am.

So, I ran away, hiding out to live the rest of my miserable life in peace. But nightmares of my past transgressions make sure that never happens.

Until her.

When her car spun off the road, I should have left her to die. She wasn’t my concern, but when I saw her desperate eyes pleading with me to save her, I couldn’t turn my back.
👤
With every day that passed, I found myself needing to be closer to her, to help her remember who she was.

Favorite Quote: “This is going to be so much fun!” Jo said excitedly, bouncing up and down. “Everybody Wang Chung tonight!”
The heroine: Ciara – She is on her way to Denver while on a mission for her father when she is caught in the mountains during a snowstorm and her car crashes over a cliff. After the accident, she doesn’t remember a thing about who she is or what she was doing there.
The Hero(es): Antonio – a made man and former Head of the Scavuzzo crime family. He is now living a solitary existence in the mountains of Colorado. He can’t stop replaying the mistakes of his past over and over in his head. He was played by his uncle, who set up members of his family in order to take control from them. He killed his brother for the crime of killing his sister, not knowing that it was all a set-up performed by a man he trusted.
The story: Antonio is on his way to his home in the mountains from a supply run when he sees Ciara’s car accident. He is able to bring her back to his home, but nothing about her adds up. Despite the fact that he doesn’t want to draw any attention to himself, he can’t ignore the fact that Ciara seems to need his help.

As with all Giulia Lagomarsino books, this had action, suspense, humor and plenty of steam. It was definitely not your typical mountain man book. I liked the story and the characters. There were some great supporting characters as well, including Josh and Carly from the Cortell Brothers series, and Knight from the Reed Security series. He was the absolute best from that series so it is nice to see him again.
Antonio was a great anti-Hero, very broody and grumpy but he was lovable all the same. Especially after the dogs came into the picture. I just love a romance that includes quirky pets.
