The heroine: Everly – she grew up in a polygamist cult and left when she was 18 and was told if she left she could never return. After getting into an Art College she was happy to start fresh in the “real world” only to be betrayed by her first boyfriend when she got pregnant. Now she is living in a small but wealthy skiing town in Colorado has changed to being a business major at the local college and works at the bank in town.
The Hero(es): Professor Reid Black – sexy but broody substitute professor who is standing in for one of the professors who is on leave. He is a bit intimidating.
Zane Black – a construction worker who is doing some work on the bank who flirts with Everly over her lunch every day.
The Story: When Everly is at the bank late one Friday and it is robbed by four masked men, she is very scared despite the somewhat deferential treatment she gets from the robbers. However, she is further traumatized when she is kidnapped by two of the same men. They are tall, tattooed and determined to keep her.
Like a lot of stalker/captive romance there is dub-con in this one, I just don’t understand how half way intelligent people (like these two brothers don’t see it). At one point Everly says it was ra.. but Reid stops her there and says she enjoyed it. But as far as most of the world is concerned, whether you want it or not, whether you end up enjoying it or not, the word No means No and she definitely said the word No to both men the first time they were intimate.
Though I don’t really have a problem with this in the stalker/captive romance genre. I just think it should be said and that they should own up to it and call it what is was. Both of the men justified their actions because they were in love with Everly.
However, this book was different than most ménage and reverse harem books I have read in that the brothers began being jealous of each other and doing little things to interrupt each other’s time with her. I liked how they resolved that issue. The guys were sexy and funny sometimes as well. I personally liked how excited they got when they found out Everly had never seen an episode of Xena Warrior Princess.
