Pucked Off by Helena Hunting
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I’m NHL defenseman Lance Romero, AKA Lance “Romance.”
I’m notorious for parties and excess. I have the most penalty minutes in the league. I get into the most fights. I take the most hits. I’m a player on and off the ice. I’m the one women with no inhibitions want.
Not because I like the notoriety, but because I don’t know how to be any other way.
I have secrets. Ones I shared with the wrong person, and she used them against me. Sometimes she still does. I should cut ties. But she makes it difficult, because she’s the kind of bad I deserve.
At least that’s what I believed until someone from my past gets caught up in my present. She’s all the good things in this world. She lights up my dark.
I shouldn’t want her.
But I do.
I should leave her alone.
But I won’t.

The heroine: Poppy O’Conner – a massage therapist at a clinic. She once knew Lance and had a crush on him and a few months ago they crossed paths again and he didn’t recognize her and ended up sleeping with her friend.
The Hero(es): Lance “Romance” Romero – he has appeared in some of the previous books. He has a lot of wild parties at his house which are full of puck bunnies. He had a contentious affair with the team trainer and she got fired for it after they were caught together in the locker room at the stadium.
The Story: Lance has a lot of issues stemming from his childhood. Poppy had a schoolgirl crush on him and had put him on a huge pedestal, their last meeting when he was drunk and didn’t recognize her had him falling off that pedestal right quick. Now that Lance has become a client of hers, she is loving the fact that she gets to touch him for an hour straight.
Lance has and on again off again girlfriend and it is not a good situation. He wants more and she wants more people. Just when he is fed up with her, he meets Poppy. The story was super steamy and very good. I liked the narration as well. Lance is Scottish and the accent isn’t the greatest but I got the idea. The book is dual POV and I liked both narrators.
I liked the angst and the fact that Lance was the one that was damaged and Poppy was a strong character. There was just as much humor as previous books and I was very happy with the story. This one has more feels than the previous books but was just ass good. I liked the story and both characters. The Heroes and heroines from the previous books made some appearances as well.
