Grumpy Doctor by B.B. Hamel
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
He’s got magic hands, a perfect body, and a horrible attitude.
I never wanted to get anywhere near Dr. Piers Hood. He’s a total jerk, and he thinks he’s the greatest surgeon in the country.
Which he is, and that makes it all so much worse.
Sometimes I wish I could cut off my own ears so I don’t have to listen to him anymore.
Except he’s stupidly gorgeous, on top of being wildly talented, and I sort of hate how much I like being around him.
The world falls at his feet, and Piers floats along like it’s no big deal.
At least he’s very good at what he does. I have a lot to learn from him, assuming I don’t end up taking a scalpel to his way-too-perfect face first.
When I get assigned to him during my surgical residency, I keep telling myself it won’t be more than work.
Right up until the point where we make out in the break room.
Now this arrogant surgeon wants way more from me, and I’m terrified I’m going to give it to him.

If you like medical romance, you will love this!
The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚💙💜🖤
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📘📗📕📙📘
World building: 🌏🌏🌍🌏
Character development: ☺️🤓🥸😎
The setting: Philadelphia
The Hero(s): Piers – prominent heart surgeon. At one point, he was the youngest attending surgeon in Philadelphia. Now it has been years and he is one of the best in the country. He also has an ego to match.
The heroine(s): Lori – a new resident at the hospital. She has a cousin on the board and she has been assigned to work under Piers even though he is the one attending surgeon who has never before been asked to take on a resident.
The Love Story: Lori and Piers have a similar talent for surgery. Piers recognizes that in Lori. Not only is he attracted to her physically, but he sees in her, someone he actually wants to teach and help to develop her skill as a surgeon.
This is a slow burn romance since both Piers and Lori realize the fact that it would be wrong to get involved while she is his resident. There is also the issue of his being sued for the death of one of himself patients. The family suing him is extremely wealthy and though he did everything right, they aren’t above using Lori to get what they want.
I really liked the story in this one, it focused a lot on surgery and what makes a good surgeon. I liked the attention to detail and the world building in this story was great. I am not a huge fan of slow burn romance though so I would have liked a bit more steam, but overall it was a great story.
