This book is about one of the twins, Xander. The twins were just babies on the night their father Drake went against protocol and came home for dinner when his family was supposed to be hidden away for their own protection. Agents of Oculus came smashing through the door and killed their mother, shot Drake, and the older boys worked together to kill the intruders. Xander remembers that night, but is not certain if it is real or a dream, but his twin Aiden thinks he does also, so they figure it must be real.
Though what they know for certain is that they ended up with cruel and abusive parents. The twins could sometimes get out of the abuse using their powers by getting into the minds of their parents and forcing them to focus on other things. However, the sister that came along two years after they were placed with the family wasn’t always so lucky. She eventually cracked and murdered the parents. Xander took the rap for the murders and was behind bars at the start of the book.
Two Interpol agents come to see him and make a deal to get him out if he will find and assassinate a woman named Ashtyn who is working for a Turkish smuggler. He agrees on the condition that no charges be brought against his sister and both him and his sister will be free after the job is done. However, we find that Ashtyn is also just working for bad guy Kahn because he is a white slave trader who is holding her sister and has been for years, he keeps lying to Ashtyn and telling her one more job and he will release her.
When Xander and Ashtyn meet, sparks fly and the attraction is immediate, they have steamy sex right away, but both of them know that they mean each other harm. One of them gets the best of the other. I’m not sayin who, but when that person wakes up in the hospital, they immediately go after the other. It is action packed and they are great together.
