Audiobook Review: Bears With Me (Ursa Shifters, #2) by Sam Hall

Bears With Me by Sam Hall

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

My ex tried to take everything from me.
My last chance at happiness.
One of the men I’ve given my heart to.
But while before he was content to terrorise me to get what he wants, now his ambitions have widened. He’s got the whole town in his sights and he doesn’t care who he has to hurt to get what he wants.
But that’s OK.
I’ve let him ride roughshod over me for way too long and now? Me and my mates are going to push back and he doesn’t know what’s coming for him.

Bears With Me

I liked the twins the best!

The heroine: Natalie – she left her cheating and emotionally abusive husband after he told her he wanted an open marriage. She was happy with her choice, though it was taking time to get over, especially after looking back and seeing how controlling and cruel her husband had been. She is trying to get her life on track and dating the four hot construction workers that she is working with on the restoration of the clock tower at the old town hall. They were good for her and treating her great, but she lives in a small Australian town and not everyone agrees.

The Heroes: Alaric, Coda, Thorne, Lars – they are bear shifters and had known from the time they came to town that Natalie was the one woman for them. When they found out she was married, they were determined to leave her be if she was happy, but when she left her husband and they saw how he treated her, they stepped up and helped her out. Showing her exactly how a woman should be treated by the man or men who love her.

The Story: After Paul threatened Natalie, stole her money and tried to get her to sign away their house to him, he shot Coda. Natalie wanted nothing more than for her and her men to take him down. They had to be careful though. They tell Natalie about why their ancestors first came to Australia. It was because there were so many big game hunters in America and people that specifically hunt bear shifters. They also told her about how certain family lines are genetically predisposed to be their mates. Natalie happens to be from one of those family lines. That was how they found her and knew she was the one for them.

This book was quite different from the first book, more about Natalie starting her new life with her guys while still dealing with the cruel antics of her ex. The first book was more about her getting away from her ex. Paul was involved with a devious scheme against not just Natalie, but the entire town. This book was also a lot steamier than the first. It had many more intimate scenes between Natalie and each of her guys. I kind of liked the first book more since it had more story, and less steam, though still plenty. This one had a bit too much steam and not as much story. Though I do plan to get the rest of the books in this series, because they are longer books and I tend to like bear shifter stories.

This audiobook was told in multiple points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Sofia Lette and Dorje Swallow. Sofia Lette has a very pretty voice with a great Australian accent. Dorje Swallow also has an Australian accent and was able to do multiple characters very well. He has a deep, gravelly voice and both of these narrators were expressive and natural sounding.
