Aanya
Desired by the Hunter
I should never have slept with Haax’l.
The grumpy alien warrior claims he doesn’t want a mate, but now he’s glaring at me and acting super possessive. All while telling me he’s not interested.
Argh! Talk about mixed messages!
Well, he and his magnificently muscled butt, regal horns, and chiseled jaw can go take a hike, because I’m looking for a warrior who knows what he me. And when I find him, I’m never letting go.
Now if only Haax’l will stop scaring everyone away.
Haax’l
When I first arrived on Earth, finding a compatible female was my priority.
But now, I’ll do anything to avoid a mate bond.
Females only make hunters weaker; I know this for a fact. Too bad my body had its own ideas.
I long to wrap my arms around Aanya and never let go, but that is exactly what I’m trying to avoid, so I warn her off with gruff words and a mean growl.
Even though I know deep down that Aanya is MINE, and I will never let her go!
Another terrific Xarc’n warrior romance!

Romance: 🖤💙💜💚
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌍
Character development: ☹️😋😘🥰
The heroine: Aanya – all her friends have been finding mates among the Xarc’n warriors and Aanya wants to find someone too. She sees the bond between the women and the hulking purple warriors that fight the alien bugs that have been swarming all over the earth and wants that kind of bond for herself. Aanya works as a forager for the compound in Franklin where she lived but is moving to a smaller community in the heart of cattle ranching country on the great plains that needs help fighting the scourge and a band of human raiders.
The Hero: Haax’l – he was a Xarc’n warrior, created to fight the scourge. The Xarc’n military created the scourge as a bioweapon, but lost control since the scourge lived only to multiply, consume and destroy. Though on Earth the Xarc’n hunters found something they hadn’t found on any of the other planets where they fought the scourge, compatible females. Haax’l has seen many of his race find mates, but he insists he doesn’t want a mate. He used to really want one and was called ‘Romeo’ behind his back by some of the women at the colony. Now he just thought a woman made you weak, and he was determined to never be weak.
The story: On the way to her new home, Haax’l accompanies Aanya and the others to his community in the plains. They stop along the way to forage at a technology manufacturing facility where they hope to get some good electronics and parts. Haax’l and Aanya end up having to hide out in a windowless room during the part of the day when the scourge is at their worst and the two of them end up hooking up. Haax’l got spooked and decided he needed to stay away from Aanya after that. He didn’t want to end up like his best friend Rak’l who was killed after mating a female had made him weak.
“What ever happened between us, stop acting like I’m trying to trap you in a relationship. I don’t want you as a mate either.”
I gritted my teeth. She was giving me what I wanted: a way out. So why did my chest ache so much from her words?
I have read the books or listened to the audiobooks of the first eight in this series, as well as most of the spinoff series about the mountains and I just love this world. Each book is different though they are fighting the same alien bugs, there are also other human groups that they fight against, so each book has a thrilling and adventurous plot in addition to steamy scenes and a great romance. I just love Lynnea Lee’s writing and have read or listened to some of her other series as well. I wish the rest of this series were on audiobook as well, as I can listen while working out or doing other things. The only thing I don’t like about her audiobooks is that they are pretty short. I usually don’t pay for audiobooks that are under 6 hours, so I wish she would do compilations. Like have three books in one.
