Audiobook Review: Bren’s Blessing (The Quasar Lineage, #1) Pearl Tate. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Bren’s Blessing (A Sci-Fi Alien Romance): The Quasar Lineage, Book 1 by Pearl Tate

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I never thought I’d end up being abducted by aliens!

I was living my dream, rotating in space around Mars on the Mars Hope Skylab. As the first American woman this far into space, I’ve accomplished more in my 28 years of life than most.

I enjoy my job, so when things go sideways and aliens board my lab, I try to stay positive and make sure that I just observe and stay alive. But I’m immediately grabbed and taken to their ship.

Unable to understand them and not knowing what they have planned for me, I have to make some hard choices about whether living is the best way to go. And how far will I go to live?

It appears that I’m now the property of the alien that grabbed me.

He’s big, possessive, and seems to want to get to know me a lot better….

Bren’s Blessing

Pretty standard alien romance audiobook!

The heroine: Hannah – she grew up in a home where her parents had exacting standards, she was sent to boarding school at a young age and went on to attend Harvard and became a doctor. She followed her father into a career at NASA and became the first person to orbit Mars. She was alone in space when she lost her communication with Earth, then an alien ship connected to hers and a failsafe countdown began to blow up her ship so that the technology didn’t get into the wrong hands, the aliens took her aboard their ship.

The Hero: Bren – he was a captain of a large ship of the Quasar lineage. He had been dreaming of the woman aboard the earthen vessel for nearly a year in his daily meditation. Though he didn’t tell his crew. They thought when they boarded the spacecraft, that it was yet another unmanned vessel headed for Mars. When they boarded, they began to download the data and the language from the ship and found that it was on a countdown to explosion, so they took the female and returned to their ship.

The Story: Bren and his crew were of a race that had long ago lost the ability or desire to procreate through mating. Though he feels differently around Hannah, who he knows is his mate by the tattoos appearing on his skin. He feels desire for her, and it isn’t long before things heat up and become intimate between them. Bren claims Hannah as his but isn’t happy to find out that Hannah still wants to return to Earth.

The story was decent, though pretty standard for alien romance. Nothing I haven’t read before, though I didn’t mind and there was a good storyline about the fact that Bren was promised to a female council member on his planet and the two main characters having to prove they are bonded. There were plenty of steamy scenes and I tend to like a more adventurous story and less smut. The aliens were a bit different, they didn’t have horns but instead had hair that moved and caressed on its own, which was very odd, kind of like the tails of aliens in some romances.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view and narrated in duet narration by Randi Johnson and Kelsey Navarro. Randi Johnson has a nice voice and is good at using different voices for different characters. Kelsey Navarro always does a good job, I like her voice, and she is very expressive. Overall, I enjoyed this narration quite a bit.
