Review: Craved by the Hunter (Xarc’n Warriors, #11) by Lynnea Lee. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Craved by the Hunter by Lynnea Lee

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

SAM
When a legendary PIP model shows up in my shop, I jump on the chance to work on the sentient shuttle, until I meet Pip’s owner. The surly hunter hates humans and has earned himself the nickname Loose Cannon.

Worse yet, Pip is dead set that I’m Kan’n’s mate! I don’t care that the seven-foot-tall alien warrior has the galaxy’s sexiest jawline, and is covered in delicious purple muscles; he’s a jerk and totally not my type. He does everything to stop me from working on his shuttle, including calling for backup from the mothership.

But when things go haywire aboard the mothership, I find my life in Kan’n’s hands, and the rest of me in his arms.

KAN’N
I don’t trust humans, especially not the female with the sunshine hair and intoxicating scent who has brainwashed my shuttle and makes me feel strange things. Which is why I’m leaving the moment I can.

Eager to get my shuttle fixed, I ask the mothership for help. But when Jask’l arrives, he not only praises Sam for her work but he also invites her up to the mothership with him! There’s no way I’m letting her brainwash him too, so I tag along to keep an eye on her.

When disaster strikes, I see a side of Sam I’ve never seen before. For once, she needs me to protect her. Now that I’ve seen how things can be between us, I’m not sure I want to ever let her go.

Sexy mates and harrowing escapes!

Romance: 🖤💙💜💚🩶
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌍
Character development: ☹️😋😀😘🥰

The heroine: Sam – she is a human female and is now living at the great plains compound where humans and the Xarc’n hunters are fighting together against the giant alien bugs that have swarmed the earth. She is considered one of the two tech wizards of the group, though she hates being called that, since she is just good at mechanical things. She does the best she can to help out the hunters by creating new things for them to use in the fight against the bugs, and fixing things that break.

The Hero: Kan’n – he was one of the Xarc’n warriors that abandoned his mission on a planet that had no hope of winning agains the alien bugs, to travel to earth where there was still a chance, and were it was found that human females could mate with the Xarc’n. He is also the owner of a Pip shuttle. Pip models have a sentient AI, and so were in the process of being decommissioned, so he went off the Xarc’n network to keep from being found. Unfortunately, he was instead captured by humans, who stole his shuttle and forced it to do their bidding, by threatening to kill Kan’n. He was mistreated and starved and now hates most humans. He is not happy that Sam is working on fixing his shuttle now that he has been rescued and is living at the great plains compound.

The story: Pip is fond of Sam and thinks she is the future mate of Kan’n. The AI tries to push them together whenever possible. Though Sam is aware that Kan’n does not like her or most humans and doesn’t plan of getting a mate, since he was starved for months by the other group of humans. Sam couldn’t really blame him for that, though his grumpy, intimidating attitude towards her did rankle. When another Xarc’n called Jask’l came down from the mothership to take Pip up there to finish his repairs, Sam was happy to accompany him to the mothership. Kan’n wasn’t happy about it, though and was determined to go with.

I have really liked this series, and each book has a different major conflict, whether it came from the alien scourge or from other groups of humans. This one was a bit different. Part of it took place on the mothership which was orbiting the earth, and I knew from early on in the book that they would face some sort of alien attack, because the alien bugs had started behaving differently than ever before. They were all just sitting outside of their nests, looking at the sky for days. It wasn’t hard to deduce that they were waiting for something to happen up above. Though of course the Xarc’n and humans didn’t figure that out until it happened.

The action was terrific, I loved the plot, and these two characters were great in the enemies to lovers scenario. Kan’n was perfect as the grumpy gus who would just not admit how much he wanted Sam. Despite the fact that he was jealous of the time she spent with Jask’l and even tried to spy on them more than once. Sam was a strong woman from the start, which I really liked. She had been one of the few women in a male dominated industry since she was young, so she was already brave and able to handle herself in almost any situation.

“There’s no human side and no Xarc’n side in this war. There’s only our side together, or the bugs’ side. Everyone else just gets in the way. Me, I’m on our side. And every loss, human or Xarc’n, is our loss. So tell me… Are you on our side or not?”
