Cynthia
Pursued by the Hunter
My name is Cynthia, and I live in the Bugpocalypse. I eke out a living in a barren and hostile post-apocolyptic landscape, foraging for food, hiding from deadly bugs, and sleeping in abandoned shipping yards. You know, the whole nine yards. But I have a problem: I have a stalker.
And not just any stalker. He’s powerfully muscular, fiercely protective, and…purple. Yes, he’s freakin’ purple. Cov’k is a Xarc’n hunter. And he claims I’m his mate.
There’s no way I’m going to be some ferocious warrior’s pet! I don’t care if he saved me from the swarm. And I definitely don’t care about his talented tongue. I’m getting the hell out of Dodge. If he wants me, he’s going to have to find me first!
Great introduction to the series!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 🖤💙💜💚
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌍
Character development: ☹️😋😀😘🥰
The heroine: Cynthia – since the alien bugs invaded the planet, she has been alone. She finds different places to sleep at night and forages for food on her own. Lately she had been sleeping in a shipping container in the middle of a shipping yard. She had a padlock so her things wouldn’t get stolen and also so she could lock the door from the inside at night so nobody could break in. Recently though, she has seen one of those purple alien hunters everywhere she goes during the day. He has been stalking her and even saved her when a bunch of the alien bugs cornered her.
The Hero: Cov’k – he was on earth fighting the scourge of bugs when he first scented his mate. He knew of some Xarc’n hunters that went around smelling every human female they could in hopes of finding their mate, but Cov’k was just lucky and hadn’t even been trying when he scented Cynthia. Since that day, he had been following her, making sure he kept her safe.
The story: One day when Cynthia went out foraging, Cov’k followed her into a store where she had hidden some of her supplies. He told her that the summer swarm was coming, and she had to leave with him right away. She didn’t believe him, thinking that the entire earth had already been swarmed, but when she went outside, she could see what he meant. The number of bugs heading her way was like a never-ending carpet of creepy crawlies. Cov’k picked her up and took her to safety, but when he told her she was his, she didn’t like that. She valued her freedom too much to just be a toy to an alien warrior.
I only have one full book left in this series and I have liked every book I have read in the series so much that I just am not ready for it to end. I have also read the spin-off mountains series. So, for this one I decided to go back to the beginning. This was the prequel for the series. In this book most humans still mistrusted the Xarc’n warriors because the human governments told them that the Xarc’n hunters most likely sent the alien bugs to earth in order to invade the planet. As much as I really liked the later books where human’s and Xarc’n warriors work together to fight the scourge, I kind of liked going back to the earlier days of the bugpocalypse.
