Virgil Team is a page turning novel that’s written with the expert knowledge of a military veteran. You’ll feel for each character in ways you don’t expect, and just when you think you can put it down everything goes FUBAR.

The heroine: Kai – she knew she was different from a young age. She could hear other peoples’ thoughts, read minds and had a gift for healing. Her mother taught her to keep her gifts to herself and never tell anyone or she would end up being used, exploited or experimented on. She knew her entire family had gifts similar to hers but never used them for fear of being caught, though hers were much stronger than her mothers. She believed her mother but still thought why be given the ability to do something like this if she couldn’t use it. She joined the military and became an MP, determined that if it was ever a case of life or death, she wouldn’t let someone die to keep her secret.

The Hero: Kale – he was the leader of Virgil team, that worked from a highly secret military base, the unit was specialized and worked within the black branch of the military. They were not a war unit and were instead, a team of defenders, though as with any covert operations unit, their jobs could be very dangerous.

The story: When Kai finds a car crash near her military base and saves a man from dying using her gifts, she knew that she didn’t have a choice, but also knew by the way the man looked at her that he knew she had saved him and not by normal means. When he returns to honor her weeks later, he tells her he knows her secret and asks to meet her later. She finds that he wants to recruit her for his team, and he has a high sense of honor and duty, and he generally thinks that if she is a part of virgil team, she will be able to use her gifts and remain safe.

The story details Kai’s training as part of the Virgil team and her getting to know and falling for Kale but doesn’t really pick up till about halfway through when an organization called Cerberus finds out about Kai’s abilities through a double agent whom she saved. There is also a rogue former black branch operative that comes out of hiding and some big secret about team virgil where some people died, including Kale’s sister. It is mysterious, suspenseful and a good storyline.
