My Alien’s Obsession by Stasia Black
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
From the moment I scent her, I have to have her underneath me.
My Alien’s Obsession
The human female spins and runs straight into my chest.
“Oh!” she says but then she stops, frozen as she stares up at me. “Hi.”
I, too, am stopped in place.
This female is nothing like the others I have seen. She is petite, with long flowing black hair. Her features are as foreign to me as any humans, but for some reason I find her face pleasing.
Before I can think better of it, my tongue sneaks out over my lips to scent my surroundings.
But all I can smell is her.
And I’ve never scented anything so delicious in my life.
MINE.
It’s all but a convulsion that tears through my body.
What? No! No, this cannot be happening!
My denials are weak, though.
Far louder is the cry: Mine, mine, mine, mine, MINE, MINE.
Terrific alien romance story, though short!

The Hero: Shak – he is from an alien race called Draci, and his civilization is dying. He is the bastard son of the king of the Draci, and is considered low standing, or caste. He lives on a ship that is orbiting Earth, and his people have come up with a plan to use genetic manipulation to make themselves look like a human so they can go down to Earth and impregnate human females. They have chosen a female that has the perfect genetics.
The heroine: Juliet – she is a student with a best friend that gets into all of the conspiracy theories on the dark web. When her friend tells her to meet at a local coffee shop for an emergency, she isn’t too surprised to find out that the emergency has to do with the fact that she has picked up chatter on the dark web that aliens are among us. She is able to talk her friend down. Juliet lives with her boyfriend Robbie, who is controlling and abusive. She knows she should leave him, but never does, because the one time she tried, he found her and beat her worse than ever.
The Story: When Shak goes to a coffee shop to meet the female that was chosen for him to try and mate with, he runs into Juliet and feels a possessive attraction to her immediately. He knows that she is the one that he wants and immediately changes his pursuit to her. Though he is a bit put back when he follows her home and finds that she is already in a relationship. But he isn’t deterred and when he sees the man hit Juliet, he decides to take action.
I liked this story because it was different than many alien romances in that it took place on Earth. Plus, the fact that Juliet doesn’t know that Shak is an alien. This was a pretty short book, but I liked the characters and the storyline. There were some surprises in this one, and I really liked the way that Juliet finds out that Shak is not a normal human being.
This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Bridget Bordeaux and Jake Bordeaux. They both have nice voices and are decent narrators, though aren’t in my list of favorite narrators. They do a fine job, but like most, don’t have great voices for the opposite sex, so this would have been much better done in duet narration.
