Wicked Captor by Zoey Draven
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
A human female who unleashes his forbidden desires. A wicked alien mercenary. A desire hotter than the stars.
Wicked Captor
Being abducted by aliens wasn’t exactly on Cara Call’s bucket list…and while her caged prison threatened to break her, it didn’t extinguish her fight. When she’s taken captive again by a massive, overbearing alien warrior, she comes out with fists blazing. Too bad her new captor is about as wicked and delicious as they come…nipple piercings, scars, and all.
Devix was once a proud warrior of Luxiria—impossibly strong, universally feared, and full of carnal lusts and desires befitting his race. Until he was exiled, punished for a crime he didn’t commit. Now, working as a ruthless mercenary in the Quadrants, his final job is delivering a feisty human pleasure mate to his employer. But when he realizes the female is his fated mate, with her lush curves and sharp tongue, he risks everything to keep her.
Trapped on a small spaceship, journeying to who-knows-where, alone with an alien who awakens her darkest lusts, Cara begins to realize her strange attraction to her captor might be the least of her problems…especially with vengeful aliens hot on their tail.
A standalone, but not!

The heroine: Cara – she was a human woman who was abducted from Earth by aliens. She was taken to the Pit, kept in a small, filthy cage and given to winners in the fighting pit. She thought she would be there forever, until a new alien won her and took her off the planet to another trading planet. He kept her hidden in a cloak with a hood that covered her head and kept her face in shadow. He took her to a bar where he waited, she knew he was there to sell her, though every time she asked, he smacked her.
The Hero: Devix – he was formerly a warrior of Luxiria, but had since been banished from his home world. He was banished because his rival betrayed him and said that he caught Devix raping his blood sister. Devix still couldn’t believe it even six years later and sometimes wondered if he actually had done it. Right after his banishment, he lived on a planet called Patrika with the worst kind of people. He fought in underground fights for brew mostly. He was trained as one of the most feared and brutal warriors in the galaxy, and now as an outcast, he is even more unpredictable so he did well in the fights.
The story: A wealthy Azatian male called Sarkin found Devix in the underground fights and gave him a new life, though he requested six years of favors from Devix before he was free to live his own life on Rozun where he made his home. Devix had one final favor left to do for Sarkin, he had to go back to the world where he had once lived and fought, meet someone and purchase Sarkin’s most recent pleasure slave for his harem and bring her to Sarkin. Though when he gets to the bar, he knows immediately, before even seeing her face, that the female is his fated mate.
Devix knew he needed to deliver the human female to Sarkin, he had to ignore the fact that she was his mate. This last task for Sarkin needed to be completed so he could finally be free to live his solitary life on Rozun. So he planned on protecting Cara and delivering her safely to Sarkin. However, as they were alone together on his spaceship for days, it became harder for Devix to ignore the pull between them and the arousal she generated in him.
This was a pretty standard alien romance. I liked the fact that Devix was such a good warrior, though I would think that he shouldn’t have needed to be rescued from his existence by a man like Sarkin. I would have thought he had the skills to make his own way in the world. Sarkin was kind of a villain, but also he did some good things for Devix, even though he got more in return. He even kidnapped Devix’s blood brother and got a confession from him about the fact he lied about the rape he said he witnessed, that the sex had been consensual. I liked that this book had a decent ending as a standalone, but the story continues in the next book, so if you want to stop at this one, you can, but if you want to hear more of this couple, you can continue.
This audiobook was told in multiple points of view via duet narration and was narrated by Tristan Josiah and Sierra Grace. Both of these narrators have pleasant voices, but they both speak in a way that you can tell they are reading, something about the pauses in between words makes it sound that way. Though overall they are pretty good and I have definitely heard much worse and I like both of their voices.
