Notice by K. Webster
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I didn’t notice her before…but now I do.
Notice
The shiny strands of gold in her silky brown hair.
Tiny crinkles between her eyebrows when she frowns.
Her passion for neatness.
Once I focus on her, I can’t take my eyes from my newest obsession. Ever.
I need to know everything about her.
Her past. Her present.
The way she takes her coffee.
Exactly how she smells after a spritz of perfume in the mornings.
She’s perfect in every way and I was blind.
But, God, now do I see.
I notice the organized way she arranges her clothes in her closet.
How she visits the same market each Saturday.
The sounds of her breathing as I lie beneath her bed in silence.
Violet is mine.
She just doesn’t know it yet.
***WARNING***

If you are sensitive to dark themes, then this story is not for you. If you aren’t into super obsessive stalkers, then this story is not for you.
A good bad guy!

The heroine: Violet – she is personal assistant to Grayson Maxwell and has been for six years, she is also very good at her job. Prior to that she hadn’t been doing well, her ex-boyfriend, Vaughn was a dangerous man and she had been dragged into his dark world. She remembers how Vaughn used to tell her that she belonged to him and is happy to be free and belong to nobody but herself. In the time she has been working for Grayson Maxwell, she has gained self-confidence and likes her life, though she isn’t fond of her job.
The Hero: Gray – he knew he wasn’t normal since he first killed a quail when he was nine years old. He attended military school and was made a sniper at age nineteen, used to take out high value targets throughout the world. Now he is President and CEO of his own company. Though he is still different. He has a singleminded focus on certain things which makes him completely oblivious to some of the things going on around him.
The Story: Violet has a crush on Grayson Maxwell, though he barely looks at her and almost never speaks to her. She is fed up with her job, as she has done a lot of work and should have been promoted to be the newest associate, but some young kid out of college got the job. She is finally fed up and she gets a job at another company and is about to hand in her notice. She is even more surprised to find out that Grayson doesn’t even know who she is. Though as his longtime friend and coworker introduces him to Violet, he suddenly notices her for the first time, and can’t take his eyes off her.
Now that Gray’s focus and attention is on Violet, he won’t rest until he knows everything there is to know about Violet Simmons. He starts to spend time with her while also stalking her when he isn’t with her. He is obsessive about it and even breaks in to her place while she sleeps. He goes so far as to sleep under her bed and to find her passwords and creep on her social media and her phone. He emails the guy she will be working for and and he finds out more than he bargained for about his own office.
Violet has flashbacks into when she was with Vaughn who was an abusive drug dealer that often beat her and gave her ecstasy and sold her to other men. So comparatively, Gray seemed like a pretty good option despite his stalker and controlling tendencies. Though he made decisions for Violet without her knowledge much of the time, he was basically a good man. Gray constantly did things for Violet like paying all her mother’s medical bills, looked at all her clothes and shoe sizes because he plans on buying her a new wardrobe, he also took stock of all her costume jewelry so he could replace it all with the real thing someday. I also loved that he changed from being the guy so focused on business that he was completely oblivious to everything going on around him. Being wit Violet made him more alert to things going on and other people.
This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Eric Roilon and Kylie Stewart. Eric Roilon has a nice voice and sounds very natural. He is easy to listen to and is great at using different voices for different characters. Kylie Stewart has a youthful sounding feminine voice and overall this was done very well.
