Logan by Hazel Hunter
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Caitlin Monroe is used to taking care of herself, thank you very much. After witnessing the grisly death of her parents, she’ll do anything to make sure that she and her sister are safe. But a witch with the rare and powerful gift of seeing the future can’t stay under the radar forever.
Logan
Although General Logan MacCulloch finds Caitlin dealing cards in a casino, her gift of prophecy is no match for his of luck. But as he gets to know her, he realizes they’re both struggling with similar wounded pasts. Not only does he vow to bring her into the Wiccan fold, he can’t help but want to make her his own.
But a chance brush of their hands suddenly shows Caitlin their sensual and heated future. Confused and frightened, she can only think to run from him, straight into the waiting arms of his arch enemy.

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤❤️💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: ☹️☺️😊🥰
The Hero: Logan – he is a warlock who has been at war with the Knights Templar for about three hundred years. He is a general for the Magus corps and he is getting somewhat tired of it. The last novice he trained was murdered by the Knights and he is having a challenging time getting the energy to continue. Especially since his most recent assignment is to watch, then bring into the fold, a fledgling witch that he is unusually attracted to.
The heroine: Caitlyn – Her parents were murdered by an intruder ten years ago, she has a sister named Sheila who she has always taken care of, and she lives in Baltimore in a duplex house. She works as a dealer in a casino and does side jobs as a psychic for rich people and frat parties. She found out after college that she really could see into the future, and she uses her talents to make some extra money. One day while in a Wiccan curio shop, she felt called to a crystal ball and candles for an alter, and she stole an old book of spells from the library and does her best to study her craft on her own.
The story: Logan’s job is to get to know Caitlyn and train her to fight in the war. He could already tell that she was powerful and when she learned to use her power, her gift of sight could be very helpful to their side. Knowing what the other side was planning before they even thought about it could be just what they need. However, Caitlyn had never known anyone aside from herself who had any real abilities.
The story was fairly quick, but I liked it. I haven’t read many books with warlocks and witches, and I liked the overriding plot of the Knights Templar vs the wiccans and pagans. I also like a good supernatural story with some cool powers. Logan had the power to control his own luck, which is handy when playing cards, and a bit handy in a fight as well. The romance was quick, insta-love at it’s best and there was some good action as well.
