Audiobook Review: The Naga Next Door (Possessive Monsters, #3) by Maggie Mayhem. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Naga Next Door by Maggie Mayhem

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The naga next door has perfect pecs, washboard abs, and the world’s sharpest jawline, but that doesn’t mean he’s off the hook for disturbing the peace.

But this time, when I stomp over to give the my noisy neighbor a piece of my mind, I find Zayn’s front door ajar and his groceries scattered on the ground. What the—

The sexy serpent has been hiding a curse. On a whim, I offer to help him break it.

The more time we spend together, the more I realize he’s a lot more than a pretty face. Our chemistry is off the charts, he can cook, and more importantly, he loves my familiars. Very soon, breaking the curse isn’t about him anymore; it’s about us.

But Zayn’s not the only one with something to hide, and I’m beginning to suspect someone out there knows my secret. And if that gets out, I’ll be in big trouble.

The Naga Next Door is a sweet and steamy stand-alone paranormal romance featuring a naga with special “parts” and a mouthy witch. HEA guaranteed.

The Naga Next Door

The Hero: Zayn – he is a naga shifter, which means his true form is a Naga, where his upper body is human looking and his lower body is a huge serpent, and he can shift to a human. However, his grandfather was cursed when he was a young man, and the curse is on his entire family line. The curse showed up in his grandfather in his early thirties and at that time, he lost control of his shifts and shifted into a huge snake instead of his naga form and had no control over the snake. His grandfather killed someone and was put to death. When it happened to his father around the same age, his father left his family to protect them.

The heroine: Sybil – She is a powerful witch who has a business where she maintains magical wards around certain homes and businesses. She took over the business from her great-grandmother who died recently. She also inherited a cabin in the woods which she has to clean out since her great-gran was a hoarder of magical items.

The Story: Zayn is in his early thirties and his curse is in full effect. He knew it was coming, so had been saving for years to be able to buy a house far away from everyone where he can shift into the uncontrollable serpent in peace without fear of hurting anyone. However, the curse came sooner than he hoped it would and he didn’t have enough saved yet, so he has been stuck moving from town to town and shifting in his apartment, where his serpent destroys pretty much everything he owns and makes so much noise, the neighbors complain. After moving in next to Sybil, who works from home, she is always there and hears him banging on the walls all the time.

I liked the fact that Sybil had been hating on Zayn for quite some time for being so noisy and she is about at her wits end when she discovers his secret and offers to help him. It doesn’t hurt that she finds him attractive. She is able to help him enough that he feels safe enough to go with her to clean out her gran’s house with her. The storyline about his curse was terrific and I really liked both characters.

This audiobook was done in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Troy Duran and Michelle Sparks. I like both of their voices quite well and they both are very good at doing different voices for different characters. They are expressive and natural sounding, and I liked the narration quite a bit.
