Audiobook Review: Alien God (Brides of the Stone Sky Gods, #1) by Ursa Dax. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Alien God by Ursa Dax

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“My human prisoner wants freedom. There’s only one way she’ll get it: marry me.”

The alien lord holding me prisoner is the most powerful being I’ve ever encountered. A winged immortal who can kill with a mere wave of his hand. He’s arrogant and alien. Demanding and dangerous. Brutal, even beautiful, though I hate him too much to admit it.

He hates me, too. But even though my captor despises me, he needs me. He requires a bride for political reasons, and he makes me an offer I have no choice but to accept. Marry him, play the part of his happy wife, and he’ll give me the one thing I want most—my freedom.

Inside our fake marriage, hate turns into something else. Something dark and strange and needy. I don’t recognize my treacherous body, and as I slide further into my husband’s deadly grasp, I fight him with everything I have.

He can have my vow. He can even have my desire. But if I let him get his claws into my heart…

He will never let me go.

Alien God

Rock god!

The Hero: Asha Wylfrael – he is an immortal stone sky god on his planet and was sort of hibernating for many years and came out of hibernation to capture his cousin who is a berserker god who had gone crazy. Immortals all go crazy after living too long, the only saving grace is when they find their fated mate who turns them mortal, at that point they can join the council because becoming mortal has made them smarter and able to appreciate things more. Though since Wylfrael had been gone for so long, things changed, and the council needs more members.

The heroine: Torrance – she is an astrophysicist working on an alien planet. Her father died not long ago. She is a captive of the government and forced to work for them on a hostile planet, but when the sky turns to stone and an alien god appears, she is seen as a human invader and taken prisoner by Asha Wylfrael.

The Story: Wylfrael wants to be on the council and fix things that have broken when he was sleeping. Though he hasn’t found his fated mate, and then he gets a prophecy that he will end up killing his mate, so he doesn’t want to find her. Since he has Torrence as a captive, he makes her his fake mate in order to join the council, though as they get to know each other, they slowly fall for each other.

This isn’t one of my favorite alien romances, though it isn’t bad. I think it was just longer than it needed to be. I did like the fact that Wylfrael sees the humans as alien invaders who have been stealing from his world and when they first see him, they think he is a monster and use weapons on him, so he kills most of them and takes Torrance hostage. This book went a bit too long before Wylfrael gave Torrance a translator, so they had trouble communicating for quite some time.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Patrick Zeller and Angelina Rocca. Patrick Zeller has a nice deep voice and is so expressive, he does a great job. Angelina Rocca has a soft, feminine voice that I enjoyed quite a bit as well.
