Audiobook Review: Fallen Crest Family (Fallen Crest High, #2) by Tijan. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fallen Crest Family by Tijan

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Samantha and Mason are together. Everyone knows it. Not everyone is dealing with it. While Mason’s ready to give them the middle finger, there’s one not going away. Her mother. Threats are issued. Ultimatums are given. Even blackmail is used, but only Samantha can put a stop to Analise. However, when a trauma from her past is triggered, she may not have the courage or strength to do what’s needed. If she doesn’t, Mason’s future could be destroyed.

The heroine: Samantha – her family is a mess. She lives with her mother at the Kade mansion with her mother’s fiancé James Kade and his two sons, Logan and Mason. The dad who raised her is in a new relationship, and her relationship with him isn’t good. Logan and Mason’s mother is now in a relationship with Sam’s birth father. Now everyone knows about her relationship with Mason and her mother is determined to keep them apart. Not to mention the fact that she no longer has any friends aside from Mason, Logan and Nate. The girls at both Fallen Crest Academy and Fallen Crest Public school hate her so much that they have been pushing her around.

The Hero: Mason – he is the star football player at Fallen Crest Public school, destined to play football in college then get drafted to the NFL. All the girls in Fallen Crest want him, and though he can hook up any time he wants, he hasn’t been in a relationship before. So, when the relationship between him and Sam is outed, the girls who wanted to be the one for Mason are not happy. They think he is using her and that it will be short lived, but Mason really loves Sam.

The Story: when Sam’s mother Analise threatens to leave James if he doesn’t find a way to break up Sam and Mason, she gets her way. James kicks out Mason and Logan, cuts off their phones and Analise threatens to have Mason arrested for statutory rape since he is eighteen and Sam is still seventeen. Though Sam only has a month till her birthday, she hasn’t been doing well emotionally, so it is hard on her. Sam runs and runs to help with her anxiety, she sometimes runs up to five hours a day. When Sam starts remembering trauma from her past, she starts to get worse without Mason around to hug her and tell her everything would be ok.

I love this series since the characters are so relatable. Sam isn’t perfect, she has been through a lot, and she has problems dealing with her issues. I also love the fact that even though she got the guy all the girls want, she doesn’t have an easy road of it and has to be strong to deal with the backlash. I also think it is great that Sam takes her coping mechanism, running and turns it into her strength when she gets a job at a bar and joins the track team.

This audiobook was told in Sam’s points of view via solo narration and was narrated by Saskia Maarleveld. She has a terrific voice and sounds very natural. She is great at doing different voices for different characters.
