Audiobook Review: Fallen Crest High (Fallen Crest High, #1) by Tijan. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fallen Crest High by Tijan

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mason and Logan Kade are two brothers who did their own thing. They were rich and expected to attend her school, Fallen Crest Academy. They chose public school and now Samantha has to live with them. The problem is that she doesn’t care at all: about them, about her friends, about her cheating boyfriend, or even about her parent’s divorce. But maybe that’s a good thing. Maybe change is a good thing.

Fallen Crest High

Even better the second time around!

The heroine: Samantha – she attends Fallen Crest Academy, the private school in Fallen Crest. Her father is the coach of the football team at the school. One afternoon she comes home, and her mom tells her that she has fallen in love with another man. She and Sam are moving in with that man and she will be getting a divorce. Samantha has only a day to pack up everything she owns, and they move in with James Kade and his two sons, Mason and Logan. The two sons are about Sam’s age and though they are rich, they attend public school, and they are the most popular guys in Fallen Crest.

The Hero: Mason – he is not happy that his dad is having his new woman moving into their home. He knows that his parents got a divorce because his dad was dating the woman. Mason and Logan go about their business, pretty much ignoring Sam after she moves in, until they couldn’t ignore her anymore. She showed up at the same parties they attended and was having so much trouble with the changes in her life, that they started to feel like she was one of them.

The Story: Samantha not only had the major change in her life that prompted her moving into the Kade mansion, but she finds out that her boyfriend has been cheating on her for two years with her best friend, and her other best friend had been covering for them. She lost her father, her boyfriend and her two best friends within the same time period. Sam goes running every day to deal with the stress and anxiety, sometimes for hours on end. She tries to navigate her new life, new friends and a new love interest while her life is falling apart. She doesn’t want anyone to know about her parents divorce or that she moved in with the Kade family.

I read this book first about six years ago and really liked it. I liked it even more via audiobook. There was a lot of it that was very young adult. Sam does some things that are definitely a teenager acting out. Though in many ways this was like a coming-of-age story. Samantha grows up a lot throughout the book and I liked her quite a bit. The supporting characters in this book were well developed and were awesome. Especially Logan, Nate, and Sam’s new group of friends. This is one of those series where the characters become like family, one that sticks with you long after you read it.

This audiobook was told in Sam’s points of view via solo narration and was narrated by Saskia Maarleveld. She has a terrific voice and sounds very natural. She is great at doing different voices for different characters.
