World building: 🌏🌍🌎
Character development: ☹️☺️😍
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Dual Narration

The Hero: Kian (a.k.a. Edge) – He is going into business with a bunch of friends and former intelligence agents, called Invincible’s Intelligence and Security, which is headquartered in Texas. He recently left MI5, which is an intelligence service that focuses on national security threats in the UK (while MI6 is focused on gathering intelligence abroad to protect British interests). He is still recovering from being shot in the arm, after having three separate surgeries.

The heroine: Lucy (a.k.a. Rebel) – she works at a local bar in Hayes County, Texas. When some drunk aryan brotherhood guys come into the bar, she recognizes one of the guys from years ago when he killed her mother. She knew that if she ever saw the man again, she would do anything she could to get revenge on him. She planned to kill him as soon as she could.

The Story: Rebel and Edge meet one night outside the bar when he saves her from being raped by the man she intended to kill. He is impressed with her when she knees the guy in the crotch and punches him in the gut after Edge pulls him off her. Then she plants a kiss on Edge’s lips before walking away. They see each other a few days later at the bar when she buys him a drink. Though he tells her he is going away for a while and would kiss her if he wasn’t. When he returns to town and asks about Rebel, he finds out that she is in jail for killing the man that tried to rape her.

The story was good, but it didn’t pull me in like the first book in this series. I liked the characters but I tend to like narration without accents and both of these narrators had accents. Though the accents both matched the characters, I am a bit biased for American (midwestern) accents over English and southern accents.

This audiobook was in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Phillip Battley and Stephanie Nemeth-Parker. Stephanie has a nice, soft voice with a southern accent. Phillip has a nice deep voice, with a posh english accent and he is a good narrator. The accent is perfect for the character, but I could hardly believe that this was the same narrator as in the first book. I must say, I am not that fond of an english accent.
