The heart doesn’t forget…
Eden
The memory of that day still haunts Shylah Kemp. Eden had asked her to wait for him, to remain at the safe house while he went on a mission. But when she learned he was being setup, she didn’t have a choice. She had to do something.
It was a risk…and Shylah paid dearly.
Eden Cole is not the man he once was. Not since returning from his mission to find his whole world changed. Being betrayed by his own government would change any man. Betrayal by the woman he loved—that nearly broke him.
When his woman suddenly shows up in Marble Falls fourteen months later, Eden is determined to learn why Shylah had disappeared without a trace…and put an end to the danger that’s followed in her wake.
Secrets and misunderstandings!

The heroine: Shylah Kemp – She had been in love with Eden Cole and couldn’t picture a life without him. She was left behind on base when he was sent on a mission, which she found out was a suicide mission. She broke into Project Arma headquarters on the day that the Government was going raid the facility. She found that the building had been emptied out and most of the evidence had been removed. She knew she had 30 minutes before Eden could be dead. Shylah sent the team a forged email from their commander telling them to abort the mission, right before that same commander shot her.
The Hero: Eden Cole – he was a Navy SEAL before he and his teammates were betrayed by their commander who most likely took money to put their team into an unsanctioned experimental program to turn them into super-soldiers via genetic manipulation. Now, fourteen months after the raid,
they are free and living a somewhat normal life and they own a security and protection business together. Though they are still searching for their old leader and the others that did this to them without their knowledge or consent. Eden also wants to find Shylah, the woman he loved who betrayed him and disappeared without a trace
The Story: Eden has been ruled by anger over the past year. Shylah was just another of the people he and his teammates had trusted when they shouldn’t have. One day when he put his hand through some glass, one of his friends makes him go to the hospital and is surprised to see that Shylah is his nurse. Shylah had spent the last fourteen months recovering and moved to Marble Falls to see him again. She was surprised at his angry reaction to her. She thought he should have trusted her, and his lack of faith had worried her.
One thing I hate in books is when there is a misunderstanding and instead of just having the character explain what happened or their side of the story, they take the high road and think they shouldn’t have to explain or the other person doesn’t deserve an explanation, so the characters go on being angry at each other for no reason. That happened in this book, and it took quite a while before Shylah finally gave up her secrets.
This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Janine Granda and Jack Calihan. Janine Granda has a nice voice and sounds about the age Shylah should be. I hadn’t heard her narration before and liked her. Jack Calihan has a soft gravelly voice that is pleasing, though he does sound a older than what Eden should be (late twenties, or early thirties).
