Audiobook Review: Tattered (Lark Cove, #1) Devney Perry. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tattered by Devney Perry

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Thea Landry has always known her place in modern-day society. It’s somewhere just above the trash can her mother dumped her in as a newborn but below the class where much comes easy. With her tattered shoes and bargain-bin clothes, her life has never been full of glamour.

So when a rich and charismatic man takes interest, she doesn’t fool herself into thinking their encounter is anything more than a one-night stand. Months later, she’s kicking herself for not getting his phone number. Or his last name. She’s given up hope of seeing him ever again.

Until one day, years later, Logan Kendrick waltzes into her life once more and turns everything she’s built upside down. This time around, she won’t make the same mistake. She’s going to fight to keep him in her life—not for herself.

But for their daughter.

Narration type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Thea – she grew up in foster care and group homes and was a bartender in New York when she first met Logan. They were immediately attracted to each other and hooked up that night, never exchanging more than first names. When he didn’t return to see her again, she didn’t know how to find him. So, when she found herself pregnant and hadn’t seen him in over 5 months, she moved in with a friend in Montana. Now, it’s been nearly six years, and she works with her childhood friend Jackson in the one bar/restaurant in Lark Cove where she is also the manager.

The Heroes: Logan – he is a Lawyer in Manhattan from an ultra-wealthy family and he works at the charitable foundation his family owns. He and the foundation president go to Lark Cove Montana to check out a children’s summer camp that they are thinking of donating to, and the camp director takes them to the local bar for dinner. He is surprised to see the woman once had a one-night stand with and could never forget. He had gone back to find her at the bar where they met, but she had already moved.

The story: Logan was not only surprised to find Thea working in Montana, but to find out he had a five-year old daughter named Charley really threw him for a loop. He didn’t quite know what to do and just walked out. After the surprise wore off, he decided that he did want to get to know his daughter, the problem was that he lives in New York and Thea lives in Montana.

I read the second book in this series, about Jackson and the camp director Willa. These two books take place during the same time period, so I knew some of the things that would go on in this book, though it didn’t hurt the story. Like that book, this one was mostly about the relationship between Thea and Logan and them figuring out if they could merge their lives. I liked the book, though I think I like Jackson and Willa’s story a bit more.

This audiobook was narrated in dual points of view via dual narration. It was narrated by Maxine Mitchell and Aaron Shedlock. These are two of my favorite narrators. Maxine Mitchell has a great voice and is one of the best female narrators for dual narration, since her voice for male characters is pretty great as well. Aaron Shedlock is just as good for dual narration, and I love his sexy, gravelly voice.
