Honeysuckles by January Rayne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I’m a monster DNA experiment and she’s everything my beasts want.
Honeysuckles
I escape the hell that tortured me for months.
I’m turned into something so dangerous and brutal; I don’t recognize myself.
And when I feel a pull in my chest, I follow it not understanding why.
I see her and possession takes over.
Her beauty is addiction.
And her smell?
God…her scent….mmm…
It drives me insane.
A thing like me doesn’t stand a chance with a woman like her.
I am obsessed. I can’t stay away.
I stalk her.
I kill for her.
I take her.
I mark my territory.
I protect her from everyone and everything.
Except me.
She’s mine.
Whether she likes it or not.
And all my beasts agree.
Genetically altered multi-monster!

The Hero: Creed Blackstone – After his parents died and left him their fortune, he want out and got drunk one night. On his way home, he was hit over the head and kidnapped. He is now at Shallow Cove Institute and has been for almost as long as he can remember. He was routinely tortured and experimented on in almost every way imaginable, having his bones broken, his skin sliced open, organs removed and put back, his blood drained and had been given all sorts of experimental drugs and concoctions. He didn’t know why, and all he could figure out was that they were trying to create a new life form, but whatever they were trying never seemed to work. He figured he would die there and welcomed death. Until he changed into a monster and escaped.
The Story: Creed has the DNA of a bunch of different species, some paranormal, some not. He has is werewolf, vampire, dragon, kraken and snake. His appearance is transformed, and he feels different, the monsters in his head are his only company. He hides away in a cabin in the woods. He killed the owner of the cabin, and it suits his needs to stay away from people and its to protect himself as well, so he isn’t caught and recaptured. Though something is pulling him, his werewolf calls it a mate, his vampire says beloved.
The heroine: Demi Hawthorne – She owns Demi’s Diner. The diner and the name Demi have both been passed down from the women in her family. She took over the diner when her mother retired and decided to travel. She loves her diner and her life, though is not always happy with her customers, especially Daniel whom she has known since they were kids. He gets drunk more often than not and seems to think he has some sort of claim on her.
Creed is a morally gray character, who stalks Demi, who he knows is his mate from the start. He kills Daniel for touching his mate, and he isn’t the only one. Demi is attracted to Creed after they meet even though she doesn’t really see him that well, since he sits in a dark corner of her diner and wears dark clothes and a hoodie. I like stalker books, so I didn’t mind the stalking, though there were times when Demi knew she had a stalker and was scared, so I didn’t like that too much. Though Creed was trying to show her that she is appreciated.
This book was different with Creed being parts of so many monsters. Though I liked it. He had so many abilities. He could fly because of his dragon, he could move very fast, compel people, and do all the things a vampire can do, he had all the instincts of a wolf, and he had the penis of a kraken (which I’ll admit, I wasn’t fond of). Though all that put together did make for a remarkably interesting main character. I liked the book quite a bit especially because it was so different, and the monster was so original. He was a cool mix of a lot of paranormal characters that I love to read about. I do plan on reading the next book in this series as well, hopefully it is just as good.
