Audiobook Review: House of Scarlett (Legend Trilogy, #2) by Meghan March. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

House of Scarlett by Meghan March

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Gabriel Legend is unlike any other man I’ve ever met.

He came into my life like a hurricane, shattering all my assumptions and preconceived notions.

I wasn’t prepared for him. I wasn’t prepared for any of it.

Whatever happens next, I know one thing for certain.

I will never be the same Scarlett I was before I met him.

‘House of Scarlett’ is the second book of the Legend Trilogy and should be enjoyed following ‘The Fall of Legend’. Scarlett and Legend’s story concludes in ‘The Fight for Forever’.

House of Scarlett

I wanted more to happen in this one!

Narration type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Scarlett Priest – she grew up wealthy in New York. Her supermodel mother died five years ago, and Scarlett inherited everything including her fashion house which she has since sold. Scarlett now owns her own shop called Curated where she sells one-of-a-kind items each week and by opening time every Friday, there is a line down the block of customers waiting to get in. Though her father would rather she go into his business. So much so that Scarlett had gone out with Chadwick, a man who worked at her father’s company for far too long just to be included in her father’s life.

The Hero: Gabriel Legend – he grew up poor in Biloxi, Mississippi. When he was a teen, he fell in love with a girl who could sing. They had big plans for moving up in the world. He would own a fancy nightclub where she could sing every night. Though there were people in Biloxi who didn’t like people who wanted to move up from their station and he got on the bad side of one of those men. That man tried to kill him, ended up killing his girl and shooting her brother, Bump in the head, thinking he was Gabriel. He and Bump left Mississippi for New Jersey, changed names and he saved money from underground fighting to buy his first club. Now he owns a legitimate club, called Legend, though it has struggled after someone opened fire during his grand opening.

The Story: Scarlett is also a social media influencer and has been using her celebrity and influence to help Gabriel fill his club with people since they were not inclined to try out a club that had such bad press from opening night. While helping him, they immediately felt a connection for each other and neither of them could stop thinking about the other. Though Legend is afraid to keep her close because he knows that someday his past will catch up with him and the man that tried to kill him will come for him. Especially since he has been in the media after his club opening.

The characters are great. Scarlett has a slew of friends that are fun and terrific and love her. Legend has Bump, who is mentally handicapped due to being shot in the head, but he is so funny and endearing. There is also Legend’s best friend Q, who is kind of a downer at times, but looks out for his friend. Q’s sister Zoey, who works at the club and more. I also loved how Legend called Scarlett Ladybug, and she kept trying on different nicknames to call him, having trouble finding the right one.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Joe Arden and Erin Mallon. These are two of my favorite narrators and both did an amazing job. The only thing that would have made it better was if it would have been in duet narration.
