Review: Hunter’s Quest (Xarc’n Warriors: Mountains, #1). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hunter’s Quest by Lynnea Lee

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

MORGAN

When the flesh-eating space bugs invading Earth didn’t make it up my mountain, I thought it was luck. I spent a quiet winter safe in my cabin as society collapsed around me.

Turns out, a huge Xarc’n warrior has been stalking my land. Rhaz’k claims I’m “his,” but I belong to no one. His massive horns, fangs, and purple muscles turn my knees to jelly, but his cocky attitude is a hard pass.

When the deadly bugs start showing up around my home, the overprotective warrior tosses me over his shoulder and carries me to his shuttle. Who does this alien think he is? And why does he make my heart flutter?

RHAZ’K

Morgan calls me bossy, but her body scents of lust every time I’m near. I’ve been patient all season, giving her time to accept that she’s mine. But I can wait no longer. Not with hostile humans searching for her and the scourge mysteriously making it through my barricades.

The little human female is mine! She might scream at me now, but soon she’ll be screaming my name. Nothing will stop me from claiming my mate.

This post-apocalyptic alien romance is filled with action, adventure, and tons of steam. HEA guaranteed. Welcome to the bugpocalypse!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤💚❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌎
Character development: 😔🤨😛😁🥰

The heroine: Morgan – she lives on a mountain all alone and provides for herself by hunting and trapping. When the deadly alien bugs invaded the Earth, she thought she was lucky that they never came up on her mountain, until she found out that two Xarc’n warriors claimed her mountain as their area and protected it by killing all the bugs they could. Though one of them thought she was his since she was in his territory, and she even caught him outside her bedroom window watching her sleep more than once.

The Hero: Rhaz’k – he was a Xarc’n warrior, created to fight the scourge. The Xarc’n military created the scourge as a bioweapon, but lost control since the scourge lived only to multiply, consume and destroy. Though on Earth the Xarc’n hunters found something they hadn’t found on any of the other planets where they fought the scourge, compatible females. And Rhaz’k had found his in Morgan.

The Story: when Morgan’s ex-husband showed up at her house nearly dead and begging for food, she let him stay since she thought it might deter the huge Xarc’n warrior. However, her ex was using up all her food stores and Rhaz’k was demanding she tell her ex to move out. When some of the bugs started showing up on the mountain and the Xarc’n hunters couldn’t figure out how they were getting past their barriers, Morgan agreed to help Rhaz’k find all the tunnel openings on the mountain to see if the bugs were entering from the cave system.

I listened to the first Xarc’n series via audiobook a while ago and I really liked the storylines, so I decided to give this series a try as well. The world building in the first series was all that and a bag of chips and I ended up rating most of the books as 4 or 5 stars each. The character development is terrific, the romance is good and despite the fact that I hate bugs, I love the fact that these aliens are so tough they are the only ones in the galaxy that can fight these alien bugs.
