Audiobook Review: Dragon King (Dragonborne Kings, #1). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Dragon King by Sara Fields

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The dragon king has finally found his mate: me.

For centuries, every woman in my family has vanished on the night of her twenty-first birthday, then returned telling tales of being shamefully ravaged by a man who could turn into a dragon.

Tonight he came for me.

I fought, but he just tore off my clothes and spanked me until I was wet and ready for him.

The brute didn’t take me right then and there. He made me beg for it first. But even before he marked me as his, I knew he wasn’t going to send me home after he mounted and claimed me.

The dragon king is never going to let me go.

Because I’m his mate.

Dragon King includes spankings and rough, intense sexual scenes. Intended for mature listeners.

Dragon King

A rift in the realm!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙💚💜❤️
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍
Character development: 😟🙁☺️🤓
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Hayleigh – a week before her twenty first birthday, she left university and went to her father’s new house in Connecticut. She was stuck there alone in a snowstorm and while looking for a flashlight she found her dead mothers diary. She found that her mother and every other woman in her line for as far back as she could research had all disappeared on their twenty first birthday. Some were gone only a day, some a week, some a month, but all were eventually returned, and they were different when they came back. Many went crazy and some, like her mother committed suicide sometime later.

The Hero: Kol – he is the dragon king of Blaiselheim, the realm of fire. Centuries ago, a witch foretold the end of his realm when the barriers between realms opened. Only the claiming of a human female with magic in her blood once a generation would close the rift between worlds and hold off the Armageddon/Ragnarock. On the twenty first birthday for each female of the bloodline, Kol would kidnap the woman and take her to bed which would close up the rift for a time.

The Story: Kol came for Hayleigh on her birthday, despite the fact that she had hidden out in spain in a place that nobody would look for her. She found that she was attracted to him, and he was able to play her body like a fine instrument. Though she was different than the ones that came before her, not only in how she made him feel, but for the fact that the rift didn’t close once he claimed her.

This book was super steamy, it seemed like it was just one steamy scene after another for quite a while. Even though I did enjoy the storyline, it was probably a bit too much for my tastes. I found myself wanting to find out more about the prophecy, what magic was in Hayleigh’s blood and more. The last two hours of the audiobook were more about the story, with less intimate scenes, so I did like that it finally got there.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via Dual narration. It was narrated by Dave Wisniewski and Samantha Leatherwood. Samantha has a soft, feminine voice which was very pleasant, and Dave has a super deep voice which matches Kol perfectly. I liked them both and was pleased with the narration.
